You're right about the delay. For an alleged death this recent, one usually needs to show up at the records offfice in person, or wait forever for a mailed record IF you can provide the proper credentials. I already checked the Social Security Death Index, but it's way too early for that. Since I'm in New York, I'll have to re-group on Monday and try to get the certs. somehow--if no one else can before then.
