New York (Crime Library) — On Saturday, a young woman allegedly lured her stepfather to her apartment where sources say she handcuffed, asphyxiated and sexually mutilated him. Her driving motivation was reportedly revenge for alleged sexual abuses occurring nearly 20 years ago. Experts in the field of psychology are calling the case unique, because it is rare for a victim to kill the abuser.

"TRUE FRIENDS WILL UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THIS."

A Queens assistant district attorney also announced that Brigitte Harris, 26, has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter during her appearance before a judge in Queens Criminal Court.

Ms. Harris has been undergoing constant psychiatric treatment ever since July 29, when police discovered the mutilated body of her father, 55-year-old Liberian immigrant George Goodridge, inside her Rockaway apartment. Goodridge was handcuffed to a chair, beaten and strangled, with his genitals cut off and duct tape around his mouth.

Police said Ms. Harris left notes at crime scene, alluding to Goodridge's act of depravity of a motive. "He wrecked my life," one read. "At first, I blamed myself. Now I know it's not my fault," read another.

Ms. Harris then fled to her sister's Daniel Low Terrace home, and checked herself into the psychiatric ward at Bayley Seton Hospital in Clifton. She was recently moved from the Elmhurst Hospital Prison Ward to the Rose M. Sigler Detention Center for women in East Elmhurst, Queens.

Her brightly-colored locks, Gothic clothes and jewelry replaced by black braids, a flower-print shirt and jeans, Ms. Harris stood silent during the brief proceedings today, while friends and family looked on.
