I think the notion of a true strip bar is lost outside urban areas. New York HAD many, now they have maybe two on a good day. The rest are strip clubs like you'll find in Dallas. They're essentially malls to a strip bar's boutique. Sam's Hofbrau is, in my opinion, the only enjoyable strip bar in L.A. Since you mention The Sopranos, "The Bada Bing" is Satin Dolls in NJ, which is a no-nudity go-go bar. Now that was an enjoyable place to just have a beer 8 or 10 years ago, with little strip-club style three card monte bullshit. But it's now a touristy, bachelor party hellhole jammed with lame mob wannabes.
