My little brother returned last week from Russia, Federation Of, with his family in one piece. I send My mom and little sister out with my Amex Card to take my bro's wife and the kids shopping, so I might enjoy Sunday Football with him down in Providence at one of the last Mafia Stronghold's with a stripclub still functioning the way they are supposed to function.
After watching the Patriots Destroy the Jets, we were both pretty hammered so we naturally order food and lap dances (Nothing like a chick feeding you a chicken tender from betwixt her boobs.) I either pretend not to notice or just dont fucking care because the Pasta is too engaging....<fast forward 90 minutes later> Now I have to piss....where is my ride??? The chick never returned my wheelchair. I signal the no neck bouncer named "Vinny" to find my wheelchair. 5 minutes later he comes back...."I dunno, where'd youzzz last see it again???"
FUCK...this is like someone stealing YOUR shoes on a midafternoon in Vegas in the middle of August in the middle of a Huge empty parking lot.
First order of Business is to empty my bursting bladder, so I walk (more like waddle) to the restroom with my brother and Vinny assisting ... along the way, I see the girl who wheeled off in my chair, she's passed out on a divan in the corridor. I tell Vinny this and he wakes her up with a pseudo Donkey Punch that would give Grip & Cram a boner. She says she got out of it for a minute to get her cigarettes from inside the dressing room (it wouldnt fit inside the door) and was gonna bring it back to me but it was gone when she returned. So naturally she takes a NAP hoping when she wakes up it will be back. Vinny tells her "Gedda fuck outta here...!!"
I piss for like 6 minutes while imagining ordering a new 4000 dollar wheelchair the next morning (I have a total of 8 chairs dispersed at various locations but this one I apparently lost was my best one, my favorite steel blue and black Quickie....none are less than 3 grand U.S. dollars)
I need a couple more drinks before I can leave now so while I am enjoying my last Absolut & 7up, the Valet guy comes up to me with Vinny and says "Dude, did you let Andrea have your wheelchair?!?!?!?!" <blank clueless Burg expression followed by choking on his lime wedge> " *gasp* Who the fuck is Andrea???"
Out in the parking lot the manager (who was upset more than I was over this incident after Vinny informed him, since (1) he doesnt need the legal bullshit an incident like this might cause and (2) he thinks I am "connected" since I went to high school with former Patriarcha Boss BIG NOSE Sam Cufari's Daughter Liz and actually dated her several times)
is berating this gorgeous yet pathetic redhead who's mascara is running all the way down to her tits and who's car trunk is open with my favorite Blue wheelchair in it...seems she saw the chair in the corridor and, knowing it worth a few bucks decided that her slot machine addiction at Foxwoods Casino trumped all else and the person not sitting in it would not miss it.
She was fired, the manager apologized 87 times, Vinny invited me to his mother's house for dinner next Sunday and my brother almost barfed up a lung laughing his ass off realizing this is yet another strip club first for me, a whore actually tried to steal my wheelchair.

Yep, that's New York Dolls on Murray near Ground Zero. Your tale is a perfect example of what that place was like in the mid-90s, before 60-40 took its toll. I had a friend there who was a bartender in those days, so I rarely went into the main room with the lap-dancing and just stayed at the bar. The rip-off vibe at NY Dolls was never as intense as it still is at Scores, Flashdancers, VIP, Hustler, etc.. I despise those places. NY Dolls was damn close at times, however.
The Harmony and its neighbor the Baby Doll Lounge are long gone. The Harmony could be insane at times, with the covert handjobs and whatnot. That place was too freaky and intense for me. I liked the Baby Doll a lot more. It too could be a real horror show. There was a psycho who used to force himself to vomit into a glass, which he'd then slam back like a shot while the bartenders shreiked. He was always smiling when he was dragged out and thrown into the street. The bouncers would forget his face and then he'd come back for another go-round a few months later. There was also a guy who used to lick the dancers' shoes and suck their toes at the end of the horseshoe stage. It was much crazier in a sick, sick way than people imagine the (post-live sex show) Times Square places to be.
BTW, the Baby Doll Lounge was the ACTUAL location of the famed "Headless Body Found in Topless Bar" NY Post headline. Serial prosty killer Joel Rifkin was also a regular.

IMHO, strip CLUBS, like Scores in New York, Spearmint Rhino in L.A., are really a waste of time and huge amounts of money. They're just as creepy as you describe them, and never worth visiting sober or often. Strip BARS, on the other hand, can be fun, as they're just dive bars that have strippers as, at their finest, a side attraction. The good ones welcome women, even single women, of the sort who aren't out in a gaggle looking for a fake lesbo lapdance. The real strip bars don't offer lapdances either. This is an ESSENTIAL attribute. This is what the defunct Billy's was like in NYC, and Jumbo's Clown Room is sort of like in L.A.

I miss the Harmony Burlesque Theater in NYC. That was the craziest place ever. Picture a basement full of leather lounge chairs and big naugahide barcaloungers filled with little old men in raincoats and business attire. Then fill the room with dirty old fat streetwalkers from the depths of lower NY. Mix in a few junkie whitegirls who got fired from every joint in the city and you would have the harmony. The stage was just a wooden 4x8 unfinished riser in the middle of the room with a single lightbulb hanging from a wire overhead. Around that on all sides like a boxing ring was all the chairs. The women would sit on your lap and lift their long skirts to cover the action. Then over by the back corner there was a group of wall grinders getting handjobs and such. No security, no floor walkers, no marked exits or real lighting.
There was a second location of this joint over in Chelsea, but it had a proper stage and only one row of old man chairs. The extras there were not easy becuase it was well lit and too open.
If any of you remember The Market Street Cinema back rooms a few years ago, this place was about 10 steps down in class from there! Cappuchino from MSC would have been just about average looking at the Harmony.
Then that prick Guilliani got involved.

When 60-40 kicked in, Billy's lost its steam. They always had a few dancers who apparently refused to stand up (a couple can still be found at the Pussycat Lounge) but it got more depressing (more than usual) near the end. They were even a bikini bar for a few months. I recall walking in one night at about 10. It was completely empty and the dancers were literally sprawled on the stage. The manager "Black Bobby" (as opposed to bouncer "White Bobby," a drooling behemoth) started shouting and waving his arms for them to get up. Sad. Sounds excellent. I love sleazy places like that. The closest thing we have down here in Tampa used to be the Pink Pony. They cleaned it up a few years ago but back in 2000-2003, it was heaven. Lots of good looking chicks who sort of danced (they really just flashed their naughty bits) but the real point of it all was the VIP rooms. Back there, anything went. There was another place called Lipstix, which was about the same but the girls were a couple grades worse. What's the current scene in Tampa? I hear from a certain Tampa based industry gal that The Executive is still a good source for retail pussy. Any updates?
You may be talking about the club that was part of the old Playhouse Theatre in Drew Park (the mecca for hos in Tampa). It was a good place for nasty sex back in its day. However, it became a gay bathhouse and just wasn't nearly as fun after that. Lipstix moved to a new location about 4 years ago and never was the same.
I cannot comment on the current state of retail pussy in Tampa, as I quit doing all that stuff about the end of 2004. It's easier (and safer) to run ads in the local adult rags for "models" and the shoot my own porn scenes with the amateurs in need of some quick cash. Lots of USF girls around here and they aren't real inhibited, god love em.

Harmony Club was pretty wild. All sorts of pay for play activities could be had there. Too bad Giuliani cleaned it all up.

Yeah. Gray was his name. Joe Gray He and a bunch of other cops got off shift, went to the precinct's back lot, pounded 3 or four cases... then went to a bar.

And he runs over an entire family of Puerto Ricans, most of them fresh off the boat and not speaking any English. Kills most of them, including an unborn baby. I think he killed five in all, six if you include the baby.
Dumb fuck went to trial and got 5 to 15. Blew his first Parole hearing in April. Next one's in 2009. I doubt he'll get out before the 2/3 rule kicks in, which will be in 2012.
Stupid fucking Cops.

It's always sickened me that Guiliani actually was praised for what he did to Times Square and the porn places. Disney Stores are an improvement over fine establishments like the Harmony Club? Not in my world. I know it's been said before about other candidates but if that nazi wins the presidency, I'm moving to Canada. He'll make Bush look like a constitutional champion.

2) We weren't barrelling down the crowded streets of Brooklyn in a pickup.

Exactly. 42nd Street west of Fifth Avenue was a big dogshit stain that reached it's biggest stink factor at Eighth Avenue. I'm glad its gone, including all those much-adored sticky-seat theaters that nobody but the homeless actually visited after 1977 or so. I lived on 46th between Fifth and Sixth from the late 80s till the mid 90s. While there are some things I miss, mostly the days before the entire city became The Apple Garden, I'd rather see tourists around than no one at all, which is what Times Square was like in the early 90s.
