Plant says Zeppelin reuniting.
Other than the Beatles, they are the only legendary band with a flawless legacy. No personnel changes, no bad albums, went out on top, etc. I'm totally against this. I have no desire to see a rickety, Bonham-less Zeppelin trying to recapture lightning in a bottle. The farce that was the Cream reunion was bad enough.
What do you guys think?

I agree. I always hope and wish for the best when bands reunite but they rarely deliver and usually disappoint.

I was thinking just yesterday how Zeppelin went out at the top of it's game.
I agree with what King said, but I think I'll still go and see this. I'll just try to remember that it won't be nearly as good as I hope and maybe I won't be disappointed then.
I didn't click the link. Who's the drummer. Jason Bonham?

They already got together for "Page/Plant" what, 12 years ago? Released an album, toured, and all that. Music wasn't bad, but nothing transcendent. I guess the grandbabies need new shoes.

I remember back in 1987 or 88 they did the Atlantic Records 40th anniversary show with Jason Bonham on drums. He wasn't the problem and neither was John Paul Jones.
Plant should not reach for the high notes anymore. He fell horribly flat during the finale of Whole Lotta Love and Page looked like he was going to fall over and sounded like he had never played a guitar in his life. This saddened me because Page remains to this day one of my biggest guitar influences. Coincidentally, his Otrider album came out around the same time and featured some pretty sweet [studio] licks.
If they could guarantee a subdued Plant and a sober Page it might be a passable concert, but I would rather not see it happen. Gonna disagree with JimB; I don't think they went out on top at all. Presence and In Through the Outdoor pale in comparison to Physical Graffiti and even Song Remains the Same. Don't even get me started on Coda (okay it was released after Bonham died, but still.) As much as I love Zeppelin, I say let dead dogs lie. No good can come of this.

Okay, you may have a point with In Through The Out Door, but Presence??? Tell me Achilles Last Stand isn't one of the Bitchinest songs you've ever heard.
As for this thing, Perv's got a point: It's a one-time only thing. It's not like they're doing a tour or anything. Yeah, it won't be great, but I doubt they'll embarrass themselves like that Spears whore did last night.

Eddie Van Halen has been quoted more than once saying that while Jimmy Page was one of his biggest guitar influences, "He always sounded like he was playing with a broken wrist" when Eddie saw him live. Drunk, sober, or on the nod, Pagey is just sloppy, I guess.
Plant's voice is gone too, as someone already pointed out.

as a guitar player i have to say that yeah...while page is notoriously sloppy (especially the Heartbreaker solo altho i still find it kinda endearing) he was a real genius at layering guitar sounds and THAT is what makes him great. i may be dazed and confused but didn't Lezzep already reunite?

Sorry for the youtube link in AWOP (I think it's my only one so far) but here's a young teenage Jimmy Page and friends on a local TV show: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gy05Ne_Zi1U

My guitar tastes are too lenghty to list, but for blues/rock Johnny Winter And Live is untouchable.

Page has always been sloppy, whether he's nodding off on heroin or stone cold sober. I always thought that was part of the charm.

I'm sorry but who thinks "In Through the Out Door" was their peak? Page was so whacked out on smack that it's long been known Plant and Jones pretty much did the whole album. And it shows.
No, I'd have to say that "Physical Graffiti" was the last great Zepplin album. But I do agree that they showed integrity by disbanding upon Bonham's death.
I just cannot look at Robert Plant anymore. To say he hasn't aged well is the ultimate understatement. And he never could sing worth a shit live. So I'd skip a reunion show. You just can't go back, folks, and it's usually not a good idea to even try.

What are you talking about farce, first of all, they all said they wanted to approach this differently than the 1st time they were together. They're playing differently then they did 30 years ago,the amplication and P.A.Sound is alot different as well.I thought it was very good.No doubt the Zep reunion is going to sound diff too.
