Stevie. I hate W, too. But, he does not run the post office.

It hasn't been a governmental department in your lifetime.

It's been a dying institution because it has incredible overhead and no one is using it. Email, cheap/free long distance. It's out-moded albatross and needs reevalution/innovation and possibly a future where everything is a FedEx or UPS delivery.

Don't like the US Mail for your small business? Use any of the numerous private services that exist.

The only interest the mail has been under Bush was when those idiots mailed anthrax. And, I don't think Bush mailed it.

I know he doesn't run it, but he appoints all sorts of weird positions for it. I had no clue about it until someone at Comic-Con from USPS in July handed me a whole media pack about the Marvel stamps being handed out and the people involved at the postal service.
(I just dug it out and checked it out)

A Governor for the USPS "appointed by George W. Bush on August 17, 2006 for a term that expires Dec 8 2013" is Mikey D. Barnett who's listed in this media pack I got handed. It mentioned all his accomplishments and Law degrees...I just wiki'd his ass and he's a proud member of "The Federalist Society."

The Chairman? James C. Miller III who among other things:

He also ran for United States Senate in Virginia, losing the Republican nomination at the convention to Oliver North in 1994 and losing the nomination in the primary to John Warner in 1996.

The other appointments are just as fucking bad.

Bush filled the Post Office with Republican cronies...no wonder it went to shit.
