Okay, my response was based on how other states would list your gender. If the allure of your fantasy is more powerful than living it out, that's your call to make and I'm not going to beat you up over it. As Warp points out though, you'll be paralyzed from ever doing anything if you don't take any chances. As far as going out with this cop, my experience is to avoid them if possible but he tripped your trigger and the best way to get him out of your system is to call him up and see what develops. Given the media attention cops are under these days, I doubt you'd end up beaten, dead, or otherwise harmed at a greater rate than going out with some other stranger but your mileage may vary.
