Last week I had a minor car accident and called 911 (because the little cunt that hit me had no insurance and tried to pull a hit and run on me).
One of the cops who showed up was really handsome and literally built like "The Rock". He was tall and dark skinned, I guess of "latino" descent. I'm a blonde and prefer dark types. He was very impressive and intimidating like out of a movie but at the same time he was really friendly. He kept calling me sweetheart and honey. I tried to behave myself because I wasn't sure if he might kill me right there and then if he found out about my being a sweetheart with something extra.
At the end we waved goodbye to each other like, I don't know, I don't even do that with my friends.
Before leaving I asked him for his card, you know, just in case.
I've been thinking of him a lot and don't know what to do.

No offense intended, but unless you've had drastic plastic surgery, chances are he may already have guessed you're a tranny, which could be why he was interested in the first place.

Nicely reasoned, but in reality it's not that easy. I am very passable, and from experience I know that I can't make any assumptions either way. I've had all sorts of situations, mostly positive, and some funny, but that's because I usually stay away from dangerous situations.
Going after a cop is probably asking for trouble. My partner seems very adamant about that not being a good idea. In general I don't actively pursue men anyway and let them make the first moves, so I don't understand why I would want to make an exception for this cop. I'm really not aware of any issues I might have with uniforms or strong dominant men who carry guns and could protect me from bad guys (and from other law enforcement).
Loopnode, I'm not sure what made you think of the "Valley Girl Coloring Book". Are you suggesting I should be more like a Valley Girl? If you like dolls you probably like women who are like dolls, a bit like Valley Girls, or fuck dolls maybe?

wtf, don't confuse being a pussy (asspussy?) with reason. If you call him up and tell him you're a tranny what could possbily happen? a) He says he's not interested, at most giving you a verbal lashing for being a sinful whore b) he says 'sweet' and you can have a hot date. Reason tells you to go for it.

MORE COPS:
Today on campus I notice this group of three police officers standing together and talking. Because of my "crush" I start checking them out just to see if maybe "he" is amongst them and anyway, to have a closer look at cops since they have sparked my curiosity. They notice that I am looking and stare straight back at me x-ray style, the way cops do. I become self-conscious and as I walk past them I realize that I am blushing...
10 minutes later I'm in my car. I pull out of my parking space and make an elegant u-turn across three lanes on an empty boulevard. Only then do I notice the cop facing me with his brand new motorcycle.
He makes his u-turn, pulls up next to me, with the flashing lights on and gestures to pull over. I never got a citation before even though I drive fast and systematically do rolling stops wherever I can, but I've never been caught. Until today.
Why today of all days? That was strange. Maybe a message? This cop was one of those annoying maggots with red skin and belly, he didn't even make an effort to be charming. He gave me a notice to appear in court. Thanks.
This helped to burst my bubble...
Warp_speed, I like your philosophy - live life to the fullest - but cops in LA are very different from Sweden. I wish I could just go with it, but this is not a safe way to do it and I also have to think of my s.o. when considering taking chances like this.
Thank God there are plenty of non-uniformed studs in the world, so no need to lose (any more) sleep over this one.

Look guys, I understand that in certain situations you should not trust cops. That's the same in Sweden as in the US. We have also had scandals with cops wreaking havoc on innocent people. But let's be fucking realistic! I have no doubt that there are cops who would beat your ass to save the image of himself in his fellow officers mind. BUT IF YOU CALL HIM THERE IS NO WAY FOR HIS FRIENDS TO KNOW ABOUT IT UNLESS HE TELLS THEM. I am not a live-life-to-the-fullest kind of guy at all. I am very sceptic about most things, see problems most everywhere and don't like to take risks. But you can't let that mindset ruin your life. See the problems, be aware of them and then take a reasonable decision.
I get the feeling that you're really not interested in calling this cop dude and that's fine with me. Why should I care? But please let's be reasonable about our reasons.

Warpy, I guarantee you that the Cop will tell his buddies. And he's going to say: "Some fucking Tranny just called up hitting on me. Yeah, the one from last week. You got the report Charlie? Lets go down to it's place and beat the living shit out of it."
Your faith in the essential goodness of people is admirable, but woefully out of touch with the reality of cops in a major American city. Especially Los Angeles.

Seriously, am I the only one that can see any kind of distinction between being absolutely sure about something and acknowledging the risk of something? JimB claims to be able to guarantee that the worst case scenario will take place. First of all, that's just silly. You have no reason to be sure about the cops behaviour at all, and any claim to that effect does just make you look silly. Then Gia chimes in ands eemingly AGREES while claiming that this could indeed happen. Well that's something entirely different.

Well, if they made a report about the accident, he knows you're a tranny (if your driver license still states you're a dude). If that's the case, he was flirting with you as a known quantity so you really don't run as much risk as some of the others here suggest. Call him up, go out with him, and have some fun. If you have any doubt about him knowing your "secret", just blurt it out. You might even get him to help you with your newly acquired ticket.

It says "f" on my license. I am very passable. I know you will not believe it until you see it, but just as an example, at the doctor's office I get asked if I am pregnant (it's a standard medical question). I know how it's like not to "pass" because I went through that period in my transition. When people "read" you they automatically call you "Sir" and "he" - no matter how you're dressed, and even if they don't mean to. Do I ALWAYS pass? No.
Did the cop know? Didn't he know? I don't know. All I know is that he kept calling me sweetheart and honey. That's what started this whole fantasy.
Nobody can know for sure what would happen if I called him. But the potential negative consequences far outweigh the potential positive consequences.
I promise next time I'll post a story with a happy ending.

Okay, my response was based on how other states would list your gender. If the allure of your fantasy is more powerful than living it out, that's your call to make and I'm not going to beat you up over it. As Warp points out though, you'll be paralyzed from ever doing anything if you don't take any chances. As far as going out with this cop, my experience is to avoid them if possible but he tripped your trigger and the best way to get him out of your system is to call him up and see what develops. Given the media attention cops are under these days, I doubt you'd end up beaten, dead, or otherwise harmed at a greater rate than going out with some other stranger but your mileage may vary.
