As for the rest of your explanation, the past is the fucking past. People other than the person in question need to move the fuck on, especially when THAT person has moved on themselves. The only problem is that which is made by closet-minded, nosey neighbors (or scumbag journalists when business is slow) who can't move beyond their neighbor's previous life.
