I think the industry in general needs to be aware that nobody knows what their scene partner did off-camera last week.
At Evil Angel, I'm very comfortable with the decision that was made last year to stop distributing movies with anal creampies. It's the only way that I know of that someone in the adult business has caught HIV in a scene. I'm not a fan of Sharon Mitchell, but I do believe that current testing procedure is much better than it was 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago. I'd be supportive of going to 2-week testing with the production companies covering a portion of the cost per performer.
I wish I had a solution to make things safer and yet still entertaining to watch.
I don't think that Evil Angel directors put performers any more at risk for STDs than other gonzo companies do. Performers are tested just as strictly. In Prague last month, our directors were the first to stop shooting scenes after a chlamydia outbreak.
