Eon is NOT a good porn director. He's a really shitty porn director (and only a mildly effective normal film director); many of the sex scenes in these supposed $100K+ movies were disjointed and lacked any energy. The filler scenes and setting shots should have set the tone much better but kept failing miserably. Everyone seemed to forget that the viewer is there to jack off in the end; the other footage should further along the story but not detract.
I'm a huge supporter of gay rights, so don't get me wrong here, but I have the distinct impression that McKai is gay, and as such, no wonder the hetero sex scenes in his movies were weak. I'm strictly into gash, and as such, am not into gay porn and for that reason, if I was a director, could never make hot gay porn. I always got the impression from the few McKai titles I watched that the sex was the least important thing to him and that he put way more time and energy into the non-sex scenes. There's a certain gay sensibility to alot of "alt-porn" as a matter of fact, not just McKai's.
Another point: "alt-porn" really was a re-hashing, whether consciously or not, of Rinse Dreams' stuff of the early 1980s such as Night Dreams and even early Dark Brothers.
Finally, "alt-porn" did give us Joanna Angel, who is a true star whose "alt-porn" visions I greatly prefer to the McKai school, from which they differ significantly.
