I love to partake of the herb on occasion, I had the chance to try Salvia the other day and wow it really is a unique experience.

The thing I notice most was the dis-associative feeling; you really seem to loose consciousness of whom you are as if you are just a spectator. I lost complete control of my body. My arms and legs would not work and at one point I could not even open my eyes! I began to feel like I had tapped into some type of ethereal existence that was there all the time I just needed to tune it in.

Lots of visuals, things moving in and out, everything looked very animated.

The high only lasted about 5 minutes or so, left me feeling good but very tired.

Yeah lots of times. It's seriously not something I would suggest to anyone because it destroys reality. One of my friends smoked it and said he became foil paper and was used to wrap sandwiches at a picnic by a family. According to him the most disturbing thing was that he knew he would be unwrapped and discarded as garbage.

I've used Shrooms many times, I enjoy them because they last much longer but the effects can be somewhat the same, however shrooms at least leaves you with a little of your humanity as you trip.

I don't see me doing this often and never without a sitter, also if you are not experienced with being high, or are the paranoid type its not a good starter, stick with pot.

As long as I don't think I've become a signed Anjelica Lauren 8x10 or dvd, I think I can break on through to the other side of Salvia.

I've done it quite a few times myself. I didn't have very good reactions though...after taking 2, maybe 3, hits I immediately started sweating. Then I felt my muscles tense up, along with my back, it pretty much arched.

I got some interesting visuals, nothing tangible, but more like I couldn't see anything around me anymore..just a bizarre murky-colored haze. It freaked me out, quite frankly...I didn't expect anything to happen because I had done it before, and had no reaction at all.

After all of this came the uncontrollable laughter for about 5 minutes or so, everyone else I was with were laughing as well. I don't think I liked it too much because I was completely incapacitated, even moreso than with any hallucinagen, or all the E I've taken.

I discovered salivia a few years back when they were selling it at the porn shop I worked at. I got some of my friends hooked on it and word spread really fast, as time went by more and more kids would come into the smut shop to buy it (well, not KIDS, but comparitively to the dudes who normally came in). I dont know a lot about it, but we sold different kinds: 5x, 10x, 20x. The higher the number the more potent it was. Anyone that didnt have a absolutely fucked up experience on salvia must have only had the 5x. When it's strong enough, it hits you right away, like right as you're exhaling and then suddenly you dont know where you are or what you're even doing, youre just gone. In my experience, I just remember my peripheral getting dark and then everything I was looking at just broke off into geometric shapes and moved around like a kaleidoscope (I've done shrooms several times and I never get visuals). I felt like I was falling or being pulled down the whole time and I remember just hearing weird chanting/music in my head. It's very intense, but doesnt last very long, maybe 10 minutes. For a while I really got a kick out of getting as many my friends to try it as I could. Watching someone trip out on salvia for the first time is awesome. They never realize what they're getting themselves into.

Now whenever I visit my old porno stomping grounds they're almost always sold out of the 20x salivia. It's amazing that the shit is legal, let alone packaged without any warnings. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I heard the reaction varies from people to people. I like reality. I'll just stick to the basics like Kush, White Willow, and Northern Lights.

An experienced bonghitter, I too gave Salvia a go a while back. Bad trip , I staggered from my smoking spot to my bed and laid down expecting to die. It passed quickly, but I'll wait until Ayahuasca is readily available before trying another psychedelic, unless some Peyote falls in my lap first.

I smoked it once on top of a communist bookstore on campus a couple years back and the reflection of a light became a Hopi Maize god and beckoned me to seek enlightenment.

Fun trip but I'd never do it again. I didn't feel any side effects after about 15 minutes but figure its one of those things I'm happy with only doing once. Now acid and shrooms on the other hand...

Northern Lights, purple kush, silver haze, rasberry, bc big bud, white widow, silver lights, blueberry, bubblegum kush -- these are just strains I've smoked in the last couple of months. If I could remember back to '92 when I started the list would be an entire thread. I am curious about this salvia, though. I might try to score some for this weekend. Shrooms have become too intense for me, but if this only lasts ten minutes it could be an interesting social experiment.

Some may be distressed to hear of this, as I am 18 years sober in AA, but yes, a few weeks after reading this, I went to the neighborhood head shop and got some 20x, a pipe, and screens. I put in a small amount and took one puff, as I had read of the dangers and had no sitter. I laid down, and felt some effects, but I knew I wasn't all the way there.

A few hours later, I put about twice as much in, and took 3 good hits. Then I laid down. Initially, I had enough presence to turn off the porno I had playing (it was starting to invade the trip). Then I went on a journey, of the folding style described.

Actually, I knew I was tripping, and I enjoyed it a lot. Reminded me of the first time I put windowpane in my eye, and someone tossed me a pack of cigarettes across a parking lot, and I saw trails. The images had a strong deja-vu quality. Memories of front yards, fences, and dogs of days gone by were flipping into me lengthwise. Knowing I was tripping, I was unable to grasp what was a real image from childhood, and what was from the trip. The images had a colorful, cartoonish nature. Looking back, the images could only have come from inside me, correct? I permitted myself to try to find meaning. I was close to re-defining the benchmarks of my physical reality. It was exploring one of the deepest current psychological challenges I face, after my father's death. What is a "normal" yard, fence, dog? What is my new source of positive validation? What are my goals?

I was aware of my body, and aware I was "paralyzed". Also aware I was quite alright, physically. Throughout, I was aware that I would shortly return. I can see how this would be very useful to a shaman. I really enjoyed it, but I was left without the permanent insight I feel I received in many acid trips (I can control hiccups, due to acid).

The only downside, recovery-wise, was a bit of a return of my urge to smoke. I did cigarettes for 20 years, quit in 1993, and the smoking part, believe it or not, was all that lingered, as far as wanting to "use". I don't feel my alcoholism means I need to forfeit exploring salvia.

I've still got a lot left, 2 or 3 weeks later. Maybe this afternoon? Seems to be harmless fun.

P. S. I am so not a drug addict, I had no fear of screwing up my recovery. In these 18 years, all I've done is pain killers for a broken collarbone and my surgery, and I got about 60 or 80 each of Valiums and Xanex off the internet, and have taken about 6 valium and 2 xanex in 8 months. I was curious to see if I could mail order a high. I wanted to be a druggie part of the counterculture growing up in the 70's, but those folks didn't really want a drunk hanging around. By the way, how long will the Valiums and Xanex last (shelf life)? I may need to give most of them away.

been over 12 years since i did acid or shrooms and it just takes such a commitment of time and physical recovery.
