Running the risk of getting controversial here, but the left really doesn't need a propaganda network as much as the conservatives. The core principles of leftist beliefs are all well represented within the mainstream media, although they certainly do not reign supreme. A lot of the stuff conservatives think (like it or not) is not represented. And I don't think it all comes down to something that can be summed up in a smear statement such as 'well that depends on the fact that the left is reality based while the right is bassed on religious mythology and fairytales!!!111!!!!!'.
