The only realistic solution is to read from a wide variety of news sources, both in terms of viewpoint and location. Then draw your own conclusions. It does no good if you go to one of those sites that claims to cull the news from around the world, because it's still distorted by the filter of their editorial board: What gets posted, what doesnt. You have to do your own legwork.
I agree with this but it does not solve the problem of when those news sources do not do any legwork of their own. All three of the network news divisions operate the same way. The head of the news division reads his copy of the New York Times, sees what stories they are focusing on and tells his reporters to do stories on those stories. The effort you make finding the truth in a story rarely goes deeper than the effort the networks make, assuming you do not have access to inside sources.
