I should be amused by this, since I hate Kos about as much as I hate FOX. But it's not fun anymore watching both sides fove further to the extremes. Demolition Derby Drivers don't rubberneck.

The thing about Orally is that all you need to do is post his clips or quotes or sexual harrassment cases and he loses it. can't mute everybody's mike... comparing KOS to FOX is silly...KOS is community driven and very grassroots while FOX is Corporate/Government Propoghanda. While this is indeed true, it does not mean that "comparing KOS to FOX is silly." Far from it. The level of hysteria on both sides is about equal. Fox may be slicker, KOS more homespun, but in the end, both sides are moving further and further to the extremes as 2008 approaches. Ain't nobody with common sense left.

Fox News is only extreme in the sense that it isn't run by corporate lefties like those in control of CNN, MSNBC, & most of the mainstream press & corrupt broadcast news media. Daily Kos are just far left anarchist wack jobs who parallel the nutcase fringe nazis on the right. TRUST NOBODY!

that's crazy...Kos is just grassroot liberals and they focus on news items and comment a lot...now these can sway to the extreme sometimes because it is community driven and written but generally it is just more intensive coverage of things that are being brushed over by the major media (who are hardly lefties...GE owns NBC right?) and they organize and raise funds for candidates and try to get rid of fake Democrats like Lieberman. KOS is just organized partisans who are changing the way politics is done in this country. The Republicans are not as up to date with the current technology and are scared.

Here we have the problem in a nutshell: Two basically decent guys on a porn board decrying the extremism of each other's favorite news outlet while defending the excesses of their own faves as a necessary and proper reaction against the other guy.
Every News organization begins with a POV. From there, they develop an audience. Eventually, they begin to pander to that audience in order to maintain interest (like a whore eventually doing anal.)
The only realistic solution is to read from a wide variety of news sources, both in terms of viewpoint and location. Then draw your own conclusions. It does no good if you go to one of those sites that claims to cull the news from around the world, because it's still distorted by the filter of their editorial board: What gets posted, what doesnt. You have to do your own legwork.
Nobody thinks their point of view is extreme. Hitler and Stalin each thought themselves to be rational, far-seeing statesmen. They each thought the other guy was a homicidal maniac. And so it goes.
(Full Disclosure: I own stock in GE. And I do like NBC Nightly News. But it's not my only source of information. Not by a long shot.)

Actually, that's not true. At least Stalin admired Hitler's leadership qualities, and I think it's a safe bet that Hitler felt the same way about Stalin.

To the extent that Stalin warmly approved of Hitler's liquidation of Roehm and the SA at the Night of the Long Knives ("Some fellow, that Hitler,") and went on to exceed him during the purges, you are correct. Hitler never had one kind word for Uncle Joe, though.

That's why I read far more news than I watch, and from a much wider variety of sources than just the 3 Networks plus CNN & FOX. Variety meaning both in terms of political viewpoint and in terms of location. Only a multitude of perspectives can give you an idea of what's going on.
The fact that the Big 5 TV News outlets don't do any in depth, beneath the surface reporting is exactly what fuels this extremism, since the pablum they force feed the majority of news consumers is designed to either titilate or to enrage. Murrow is spinning in his grave.

The answer to speech you don't like is more speech. Why don't the liberals start there own propaganda network. Oh yeah, that didn't work too well did it. I can just see the advertisers shaking in their boots as suporters of a bankrupt talk radio netowrk try to convincce them not to advertise on the highest rated news show.
