Here we have the problem in a nutshell: Two basically decent guys on a porn board decrying the extremism of each other's favorite news outlet while defending the excesses of their own faves as a necessary and proper reaction against the other guy.

Every News organization begins with a POV. From there, they develop an audience. Eventually, they begin to pander to that audience in order to maintain interest (like a whore eventually doing anal.)

The only realistic solution is to read from a wide variety of news sources, both in terms of viewpoint and location. Then draw your own conclusions. It does no good if you go to one of those sites that claims to cull the news from around the world, because it's still distorted by the filter of their editorial board: What gets posted, what doesnt. You have to do your own legwork.

Nobody thinks their point of view is extreme. Hitler and Stalin each thought themselves to be rational, far-seeing statesmen. They each thought the other guy was a homicidal maniac. And so it goes.
