Aussie porn star's warning

AN Australian adult-film star caught up in an HIV scare which shut down the American porn movie industry for a month has warned women against adult work in Australia.
The US industry resumed production this week after voluntarily closing down for a month on revelations that several actors had contracted HIV.
Jodie Moore, once a candidate for Brisbane lord mayor and the Senate is now working in San Fernando Valley in California, where most American pornographic movies are made.
Her management said today that she had not worked with the actor involved in the HIV scare for some time and was not infected, but Ms Moore said she was nonetheless frightened for her health.
"I am always concerned about my health and have decided to have a break for the next month to see how the industry responds," she said.
"I will continue to do solo photo shoots and feature dancing around the country (US) meeting my fans."
She also wanted to warn Australian woman against working in the industry.
Ms Moore said today she had regular medical checks, but such checks were not as sophisticated in Australia as in the US and that women should be careful of "cowboy operations".
"I strongly advise all girls who may be offered adult work in Australia to be very careful," she said.
"They should not believe anything that is told to them by local producers regarding health matters."
A moratorium on filming began in the US when an actor, Darren James, contracted the virus and infected several others before the industry realised.
Production was shut down in mid-April and resumed only this week after extensive tests cleared all but three female actors.
"Health is the primary concern in all aspects of work and the adult industry is no different," Ms Moore said.
"This has been very disturbing for all in the adult industry but it also reminds everyone all over the world to not be complacent about HIV."
