A-1 is good for burgers and fries, if you're at a diner or like establishment. Peter Luger's Steak House makes a really nice sauce but, since I won't put it on my steak, and usually get the Baked Potato there, it's kind of redundant. If sauce is your thing, it is available in supermarkets in this area, and you can order it online HERE. You can order steaks, too, but that gets kind of pricey.




I have been to Luger's and it was great, although the neighbourhood was pretty dodgy when I was there about 5 years ago. Our little foursome (which included two locals) stepped lively to the subway after dinner.




That's right around the time the first of a wave of yuppies, artists and others started crossing the East River fleeing the rents in Manhattan. Williamsburg's nicer now. It's not the Heights, but it's not Bed-Stuy either. Still, what you saw in 2002 was nothing compared to 1992.
