Rep. Bob Allen arrested on sex charge
Titusville police were at Veteran's Memorial Park on East Broad Street on a burglary detail when they noticed an unshaven man acting suspicious, going in and out of the restroom three times, said Lt. Todd Hutchinson.
An undercover officer decided to go into one of the bathroom stalls, Hutchinson said. Moments later, Allen knocked on the stall door and offered to perform oral sex on the officer for $20, according to the police spokesman.
The officer identified himself and took Allen into custody. Hutchinson said the officers had no idea the suspect was a state lawmaker.

I'm unfamiliar with your country's political system. I thought the Democrats were supposed to be gay-loving sex maniacs and the Republicans were devout Christians.
I hope President Giuliani is able to restore sexual morality to federal politics.
Can someone explain this?

Rep. David Almond resigned Thursday from the state Legislature due to what House leaders called a personnel complaint involving "serious, improper behavior," but he vowed to fight the unspecified allegations.
At the start of the House session Thursday, House Speaker Joe Hackney read a one-sentence letter in which Almond, R-Stanly, said he would immediately vacate his seat representing the 67th House District.
Hackney said he received "a personnel complaint" involving Almond last week, but said state and federal confidentiality laws bar him from giving any details.

The accounts have not been confirmed or dismissed by law enforcement officials, and no investigations are planned. Nonetheless, West's tacit acknowledgement of gay sex sent political shock waves across the state. In more than 20 years in the Legislature, West had initiated legislation to outlaw sexual contact between consenting teenagers; supported a bill that would have barred gays and lesbians from working for schools, day care centers and some state agencies; voted to define marriage as a union between a man and a woman; and, as Senate majority leader, allowed a bill that would ban discrimination against gays and lesbians to die in committee without a hearing. As Spokane mayor, West threatened to veto a measure extending benefits to domestic partners of city employees. "It's a pretty egregious case of hypocrisy," Washington State University political scientist Lance LeLoup told The Associated Press.

This story's more than 2 1/2 years old. He lost a recall vote 12/6/05 and died of colon cancer last July. Although personally, I thought it was suicide.
