With respect to the Pacific northwest, do not overlook Ted Bundy. Wasn't it cool that they assigned a woman to pull the switch to fry the Ted-meister?

Ah, but you have to remember the "Ted" killings started in the Pacific Northwest. He was actually more prolific here than anywhere else. I think his count, according to him, was in the 50's here. That includes snatching two in one day, from the same very public place. After things started getting hot in this region for him, he got a handful in Colorado and Utah, where he was caught. Escaped from Colorado custody twice, then made his way to Florida, where he could've lived anonymously if he were able to control himself. He wasn't. I think by that time his bloodlust was such that he didn't care if he got caught. He needed to do what he needed to do.

I didn't know a woman pulled the switch on him tho. I was fascinated by his "Playboy made me do it" interview with Dobson the day they snuffed him. He also figured if he started confessing and naming dump locations, the local authorities where he took hiss other victims would pressure Florida not to waste him, because he might still have information to help them close their cold cases. Florida didn't feel that way. Sizzle sizzle.
