I'm pretty sure $1500 is much too low, so perhaps too low to be credible (Lara has lied about other things in interviews, such as her age). I haven't seen pictures of Lara and have no idea how much money she could get.

She was apparently hooking on the side too which is why there was a lot of initial suspicion she infected Darren instead of the other way around.
