Talk about injustice, fucking spoiled cunt is out. I wonder who got paid off. She's really going to learn a lesson confined to her mansion. poor baby.
By ROBERT JABLON, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton was released from a Los Angeles County jail early Thursday because of an unspecified medical problem and will fulfill the remainder of her sentence in home confinement, a sheriff's spokesman said.
The 26-year-old hotel heiress was sent home shortly after 2 a.m. fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. She had spent five days at the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Los Angeles for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.
"I can't specifically talk about the medical situation other than to say that, yes, it played a part in this," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.
Hilton had been sentenced to 45 days behind bars, but had been expected to serve 23 days because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behavior.
Whitmore said that under the new agreement, Hilton would be confined to her home for 40 days.
"Because she has agreed to this through her attorney, her sentence is now back up to the 45 days. She has served already five days so that's 40 days," he explained.
Hilton checked into the Century Regional Detention Facility just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday. She had surrendered to authorities with little fanfare after a surprise appearance at the MTV Movie Awards, where she worked the red carpet in a strapless designer gown.
"I am trying to be strong right now," she told reporters at the time. "I'm ready to face my sentence. Even though this is a really hard time, I have my family, my friends and my fans to support me, and that's really helpful."
Hilton was housed in the "special needs" unit of the 13-year-old jail, separate from most of its 2,200 inmates. The unit contains 12 two-person cells reserved for police officers, public officials, celebrities and other high-profile inmates. She didn't have a cellmate.
After she checked in Sunday, Whitmore said Hilton's demeanor was helpful.
"She was focused; she was cooperative," he said.
Hilton's lawyer, Richard A. Hutton, said Monday after his client's first night in jail that she was doing well under the circumstances.
"She's using this time to reflect on her life, to see what she can do to make the world better and hopefully, in my opinion, to change the attitudes that exist about her among many people," Hutton said after visiting Hilton.
The 13-year-old jail, a two-story concrete building next to train tracks and beneath a bustling freeway, has been an all-female facility since March 2006. It's located in an industrial area about 12 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
When she was sentenced May 4, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ruled that she would not be allowed any work release, furloughs or use of an alternative jail or electronic monitoring in lieu of jail.
Officers arrested Hilton in Hollywood on Sept. 7. In January, she pleaded no contest to the reckless-driving charge and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines.
She was pulled over by California Highway Patrol on Jan. 15. Officers informed Hilton she was driving on a suspended license and she signed a document acknowledging she was not to drive. She then was pulled over by sheriff's deputies on Feb. 27, at which time she was charged with violating probation.

This is just pathetic. She got the best prison sentence money can buy.
Fucking bitch. I want to know what this 'medical condition' is. She was visited by a shrink, but I will not accept mental issues as an excuse. It doesn't stop people from posting here, so it shouldn't stop her from being green lit in the showers.

I knew it! I so called it in the original Paris thread. So what if the bitch didn't eat during her stay? Who has an appetite in jail? I bet her 'medical condition' is a herpes sore on her nasty lip. Hardly enough to send her home, but I guess that's what riches and an annoying personality get you.

King, Commando featured the faggiest bad guy ever. He would've been Paris's cell mate if she'd stayed in jail long enough.
Gia was right all along. Gia, please predict that Paris will be killed by a land shark as soon as possible.

The judge is apparently Very, Very Not Happy she was released. But I don't know what he can do about it. If the jail releases her that's their decision to make usually. I'm not sure how CA works - maybe he'll send her to a different jail?

Counsellor, I'm well aware of the types of deals offered to the poor and indigent. I have also seen Drug Treatment programs work with astonishing success. This in no way diminishes the fact that the reprehensible decision of the LA County Sherriff should not be in any way replicated elsewhere.
Paris Hilton should be held to the same standard as anyone else. That does not mean that offenders should be sent home after five days just because Ms. Hilton was.

fuck the numbers, 3 days, 5 days, 45 hrs, 50 hrs so fucken what... she still got off easy. & the little rich bitch got yet another break. Paris Hilton doesn't have to be in court By JOHN ROGERS, Associated Press Writer 19 minutes ago LOS ANGELES - Paris Hilton, who is serving her jail sentence from her Hollywood Hills home, has been given another break. She can call in to her Friday court hearing by phone instead of appearing in person. The 26-year-old hotel heiress was headed for a courtroom showdown that could put her back behind bars, as prosecutors sought to hold sheriff's officials in contempt for releasing her early from jail. Hilton was ordered to report to court at 9 a.m. The judge signed an order for deputies to bring her in a sheriff's vehicle from her Hollywood Hills home, said Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini. However, Friday morning, Parachini said Hilton would be allowed to take part in the hearing by telephone. The reason for the change was unclear. The frenzy began early Thursday when sheriff's officials released Hilton because of an undisclosed medical condition and sent her home under house arrest. She had been in jail since late Sunday. Hilton was fitted with an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet and was expected to finish her 45-day sentence for a reckless driving probation violation at her four-bedroom, three-bath home. The decision by Sheriff Lee Baca to move Hilton chafed prosecutors and Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer, who spelled out during sentencing that Hilton was not allowed to serve house detention. Late Thursday, Sauer issued the order for Hilton to return to court after the city attorney filed a petition demanding that Hilton be returned to jail and to show cause why Baca shouldn't be held in contempt of court. Baca does not have to be in court, and it was unclear who would represent the Sheriff's Department. The move also was met with outrage from the sheriff's deputies union, members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, civil rights leaders, defense attorneys and others. "What transpired here is outrageous," county Supervisor Don Knabe told The Associated Press, adding he received more than 400 angry e-mails and hundreds more phone calls from around the country. Hilton's return home "gives the impression of ... celebrity justice being handed out," he said. Baca dismissed the criticism, saying the decision was made based on medical advice. "It isn't wise to keep a person in jail with her problem over an extended period of time and let the problem get worse," Baca told the Los Angeles Times on Thursday. "My message to those who don't like celebrities is that punishing celebrities more than the average American is not justice," Baca said. California Attorney General Jerry Brown criticized the Sheriff's Department for letting Hilton out of jail, saying he believed she should serve out her sentence. "It does hold up the system to ridicule when the powerful and the famous get special treatment," Brown told The Associated Press in an interview before testifying at a congressional hearing in Washington. "I'm sure there's a lot of people who've seen their family members go to jail and have various ailments, physical and psychological, that didn't get them released," he said. "I'd say it's time for a course correction." The Los Angeles County jail system is so overcrowded that attorneys and jail officials have said it is not unusual for nonviolent offenders like Hilton to be released after serving as little as 10 percent of their sentences. In the hours after Hilton's release, it was a madcap scene outside her house in the hills above the Sunset Strip. As word spread that Hilton was back home, radio helicopter pilots who normally report on traffic conditions were dispatched to hover over her house and describe it to morning commuters. Paparazzi photographers on the ground quickly assembled outside its gates. Shortly before noon, Hilton issued a statement through her attorney. "I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally," she said. "I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes." Hilton's path to jail began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night run to a hamburger stand. She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice by officers who discovered her driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer's courtroom, where he sentenced her to jail. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070608/ap_en_tv/paris_hilton;_ylt=AuSEdjcin0H68AloELCq2gpxFb8C ___ wait a sec. Hilton ordered back to court after all By LINDA DEUTSCH, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago LOS ANGELES - A judge ordered that Paris Hilton be brought to court Friday for a hearing on her early release from jail rather than listen to the proceeding by telephone. ADVERTISEMENT The decision by Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer was announced by court spokesman Allan Parachini shortly before the start of a hearing that could put her behind bars again for violating probation in a reckless driving case. "Judge Sauer has instructed the Sheriff's Department to go to Ms. Hilton's residence, pick her up and bring her here. That is happening now," Parachini told reporters outside the courthouse. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070608/ap_on_en_tv/paris_hilton;_ylt=AmiuT3vKCwPhy.X1uFJ04eus0NUE this is getting interesting. lol

This is live on Fox at the moment. Incredible. She's a half an hour late, the judge is stewing. She better show up medicated, on a stretcher, in pajamas or she's going back to the slammer.

Paris Hilton back in court
Peta Hellard
June 09, 2007 12:00am
PARIS Hilton was let out of jail early because she was beginning to crack under the grim reality of prison conditions.
She was constantly crying, couldn't sleep or eat, and found her cell too cold and the prison too noisy.
After consulting a doctor and a psychiatrist, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department cited medical reasons for her release.
Only 72 hours into her 23-day sentence, the celebrity party girl was back in her $4 million Hollywood Hills mansion sending out cupcakes to the huge media pack that had gathered.
As anger and accusations of favoured treatment spread across the US, Hilton thanked the sheriff's department and jail staff for treating her "fairly and professionally".
"I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes," she said in a statement. "I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence."
Hilton kept a low profile, although late in the morning a man arrived outside her house with a supply of cupcakes he said she had instructed him to distribute to the media.
They were covered in the socialite's favourite rosy icing.
Her parents also arrived and briefly entered, then left.
Within hours city prosecutors filed a motion seeking her return to jail as early as today.
She has been ordered to appear in an LA court at 9am before Superior Court judge Michael Sauer.
Judge Sauer, who originally sentenced Hilton to a 23-day stay for violating her probation in a drink-driving case, opposed the early release of the 26-year-old for an unspecified medical condition.
"Paris has been crying on the phone, saying she's not sleeping or eating. Paris says her cell is 'freezing cold'," gossip website TMZ said.
"She has three little blankets and no pillow.
"She's using one of the blankets as a pillow. The room is bright and jail noise echoes through her space."
LA sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore insisted Hilton was not free, but "reassigned" to house arrest while wearing an electronic tag.
Sheriff Lee Baca released Hilton to serve 40 days at home and wear an electronic tagging device after she served only three days of her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility.
Judge Sauer had specifically ordered that Hilton not do her time at home when he sentenced her last month.
The case's prosecutor, Rocky Delgadillo, said he was considering holding the sheriff in contempt of court for releasing her.
"The judicial process may have been improperly circumvented in this case," Mr Delgadillo said.
"I have directed my criminal branch to immediately explore all possible legal options to ensure the law is being applied equally and justly.
"Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds."
Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini said judge Sauer had vehemently opposed her release. "He did not agree to the terms of release that the sheriff proposed," Mr Parachini said.
Mr Delgadillo said he would argue in court today that the sheriff's department had violated the court's sentencing order and Hilton should be returned to jail.
"If law enforcement officials are to enjoy the respect of those we are charged with protecting, we cannot tolerate a two-tiered jail system where the rich and powerful receive special treatment," he said.
"We must ensure that in our city, in our nation and under our Constitution, justice remains blind."
Hilton reported to jail late on Sunday to serve her sentence, meted out in May for driving while her licence was suspended for drink-driving.
But her early release triggered a wave of anger from civil liberties groups and on the internet, with people condemning the special treatment allegedly being accorded to the heiress of the Hilton hotel fortune.
Civil rights leader Al Sharpton said: "This early release gives all of the appearances of economic and racial favouritism that is constantly cited by poor people and people of colour." ~ with AFP

From correspondents in Los Angeles June 09, 2007 03:05am PARIS Hilton was take to court today in handcuffs for a hearing that could result in the celebrity heiress being sent back to jail to serve out a three-week sentence. Los Angeles city prosecutors filed papers late yesterday demanding that Hilton, 26, be returned to jail a day after her early release on unspecified medical grounds touched off a storm of protest. Judge Michael Sauer refused to allow her to testify by telephone and told sheriffs today to fetch her from her Hollywood Hills home, where she was confined under house arrest. A standoff ensued where, according to celebrity website TMZ.com, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department refused to comply with the judge's orders to bring her to court. The situation was resolved after nearly two hours, when Hilton appeared outside her West Hollywood home in police custody and was bundled ito a waiting police car. Local Los Angeles city prosecutors have also demanded that the be held in contempt for releasing her early. Hilton, a symbol of privilege and the excess of American celebrity culture, went to jail last Sunday to serve a 23-day sentence imposed for violating probation by driving on a licence suspended after an earlier reckless driving case. --------------------------------------------------- What kind of police does LA have?!! Maybe they are all hired out from a movie studio?

Depending upon how much discretion the Sherriff is permitted under California Law and Constitution, the Judge will probably issue a Writ of Mandamus, which is a Judicial Order requiring a Public Official to perform a ministerial act. Basically, it's a way for the Judge to tell the Sherriff "Do your Fucking Job." I have no Idea, however, what the law in California is with regard to a Sherriff's ability to commutte a sentence to home confinement based upon a few tummyaches.

Screaming Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paris Hilton was taken from a courtroom screaming and crying Friday seconds after a judge ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case. "It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience. Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping. Her hair was askew and she wore a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks. She wore no makeup and she cried throughout the hearing. Her body also shook constantly as she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."

Al Sharpton is the voice of reason. What else can I say. I've never heard of a prisoner being sent home from jail because it was too tough. That's pretty much the point.I've never heard of a sherif ignoring a judges order. Sherifs are usually elected. I have a feeling he's going to have quite a re-election.
Update: Paris is going back to jail. All is well in the world.

The dumb bitch could have avoided all this if she just didn't drive her car while on probation. She's rich enough that she could've hired someone to drive her for the, what was it, 2 months her license was suspended. When I had my license suspended for 1 year for a dwi you can believe me I didn't do any driving. Lots of walking, taxis and bumming rides.

Not only that - I still wonder what might have been had she actually been in court on time. Judges HATE late defendants. And why didn't she get herself to court this morning, just to be sure? She needs every bonus point she can get with this judge, and appearing to actually make an effort of some sort would be a Really Good Idea.
(gotta wonder where her personal attorney was - dude has got to understand this - if Paris won't listen to her lawyer he ought to withdraw)

Ever wonder why co-workers sometimes start riding bicycles to work? It's not always for the exercise...
The Sheriff added to her problems. The Sheriff's dept initially refused to pick her up (remember she's still officially in custody while under house arrest) and stated that she would call into the proceeding. The judge heard that on the radio on his way to work and went nuts. She was caught in the middle of a turf war between the Sheriff who runs the jails and who stays and goes and a judge with a hardon for a bimbo who thinks she's above it all. Remember, she got caught driving twice on a suspended license and oh by the way, something that hasn't been in the press lately, she was suppose to attend an alcohol eduction program within a certain number of days and blew that off too.
The chickens are roosting and she can do her time.

My friend has the cupcakes Paris gave to the media last night in celebration of her release before she got sent back to the clink today. We're throwing said cupcakes over the fence into the hills. Maybe a coyote will eat them. I apologize for the one that landed in the pool behind us.

That is the question of the year. I really can't see the sherif playing Capt. Save a Ho, especially since its prolly going to cost him his job. What was in it for him to not only release her, but do it without notifying the court or DA?
Cash. Cold Hard Cash. Turns out this Sheriff has a habit of taking serious amounts of cash from people: a Louisiana Sheriff would be proud. See quoted article below, with my highlights.
Quote:
But I think its still only 23 days. And I think the judge is going to tranfer her to a psych ward next week.
Standard for all prisoners would apparently be 23 days, and I've seen nothing to suggest this judge wants to do anything special for or against her, so 23 days is likely it.
As for the Sheriff: this guy is the same one that tried to cover up for Mel Gibson. And you gotta wonder about all that cash: if nothing else, how interested and able is he in keeping corruption out of the rest of the department? The Sheriff has apparent decided to back off on this one rather than risk a contempt hearing with the court.

Sheriff under fire in Paris Hilton case By MICHAEL BLOOD, Associated Press Writer Fri Jun 8, 9:19 PM ET
LOS ANGELES - This is not the first time that Lee Baca, the sheriff who opened the jail door for Paris Hilton, has had his judgment questioned.
He's been accused of using his authority to benefit friends and supporters. Since taking office he's accepted thousands of dollars worth of freebie meals, sports tickets and trips.
Now Baca is facing accusations of favoritism after making the decision that allowed Hilton to leave jail Thursday to serve out her sentence at her West Hollywood home.
He dismissed that criticism, saying Friday that Hilton had been ordered to spend an unusually long time behind bars.
Under his department's early release program, Hilton would not have served any time in jail and would have been put on home electronic monitoring, Baca said.
"The special treatment, in a sense, appears to be because of her celebrity status," he said. "She got more time in jail."
After ordering Hilton back to her cell Friday, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer said he "at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff."
The union representing deputy sheriffs demanded that Baca "put a stop to his special treatment for celebrity inmates." And county Supervisor Don Knabe said he was stunned to find out Baca released Hilton without consulting the court.
"I would have thought he would have better judgment than that," Knabe said.
The county Board of Supervisors will demand a report on Hilton's release and Baca's decision-making in the matter, Knabe said.
For Baca, 65, who has led the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department since 1998, the blowback is not extraordinary.
When Mel Gibson was arrested for drunken driving, the department withheld video and audio tapes of the arrest, asserting they were exempt from open-government laws.
There were questions about favorable treatment for Gibson after a sheriff's spokesman initially said the arrest occurred "without incident" and made no mention of the superstar's now-notorious anti-Semitic rant.
"When a celebrity is involved, that's when people pay attention," said Robert Stern of the Center for Governmental Studies, a research group. "The big question ... is why didn't the sheriff go to the judge" before Hilton was released.
Baca has dismissed criticism over the decision.
Last year, the Los Angeles Times reported Baca put one of his closest friends on the payroll as a $105,000-a-year adviser.
The newspaper also said he had accepted more than $42,000 in gifts since taking office, including some from those who do business with his department.
In 2004, he took more gifts than California's other 57 sheriffs combined.
Baca oversees an 8,000-officer force that has been vexed by low morale, tight budgets, overcrowded jails and the persistence of gang crime.
Jonathan Wilcox, a Republican strategist who teaches a course on politics and celebrity at the University of Southern California, said Baca may be caught between public expectations and the reality of the criminal justice system:
"Sheriff Baca needs to be very concerned with at least the impression that the final frontier — the law — is now as affected by celebrity as almost every other aspect of our lives."

Oh yeah, one other bit of wisdom from the sheriff: Quote:
At a news conference on Friday, Sheriff Baca said: “The special treatment appears to be her celebrity status. She got more time in jail.â€
Remind me again when country sheriffs started reviewing judicial sentencing decisions?
If the sheriff gets into a contempt order from the judge and appeals he's just cost himself a bunch of points with whoever he has to convince that he has the right to reduce a sentence because he looked at the trial court's sentence and decided it was unfair.

Oh, and to the person who emailed me about how 'your just a jealouz hater. paris is my freind'...just because you did coke with Paris's maid once doesn't mean you're her friend.

Although Whitmore would not discuss Hilton's condition, Sheriff Lee Baca indicated at a news conference yesterday that it was psychological.
He said she arrived at her original jail with a condition he had not been told of and that it immediately began to deteriorate to the point that he feared for her safety.
"When you're talking about psychological problems it's far more complex and it does require a more complex medical approach," Baca said. "We didn't have all of our information."
Baca said he was placing Hilton in a "better facility for her condition, meaning one that has a more intense form of medical support". He said she would be kept under close watch to ensure "that there isn't anything harmful done to herself by herself, which is a great concern to me".
Whitmore said she will be there for at least another day.
Twin Towers is equipped to treat acute medical and mental health needs, although inmates in need of surgery are moved to a hospital for treatment. About 40 inmates are housed per floor, and most of the rooms are designed for one patient at a time.
Which jail the heiress will end up at after Twin Towers depends on the results of her assessment by the facility's doctors.
Sauer sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail for violating probation in a reckless driving case and said she could not serve it at home. When she was released she had served only three full days but was credited with five because of her late-night surrender to authorities after attending last week's MTV Movie Awards. Before her release, she was fitted with an ankle bracelet and ordered not to leave her house until her sentence was up.
Just a day later Sauer ordered her to court and returned her to jail.
Hilton was credited with both her time served in jail and at home, so by today she had completed seven days of her sentence. With time off for good behaviour, she could be released in a little more than two weeks.
She could go home even sooner if she can successfully appeal her sentence. Her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, confirmed her lawyers plan to file an appeal.
-----------------------------------------------
I'm sure if any non-celebrity was going to prison the sheriff would have no hesitation to throw them straight into a cell with Bubba
It sounds like even if Paris doesn't make an appeal she will only be there a couple of weeks at most on account of good behaviour

Paris's grandad gave election cash to sheriff who

Paris Hilton's billionaire grandfather donated money last year to the sheriff who released the 26-year-old heiress from jail.
William Barron Hilton, 78, co-chairman of the Hilton Hotel chain, made a contribution of around £500 (=$1,000) to Sheriff Lee Baca’s re-election campaign - the maximum allowed by law - according to financial records.
The Mail on Sunday examined the returns after a friend of the Hilton family claimed Paris’s release may have been a 'quid pro quo'.
The friend said: "A member of her family has been a contributor to Baca’s campaign and this may have been payback time.
"Her entourage initially were confident she would be out of jail in a few days."

Toooooooooooo much read into that. A person of that ilk would likely to have contributed the maximum to ANY AND EVERY politician guaranteed to be elected - INCLUDING THE CITY PROSECUTOR. I used to analyze the contribution data for the NYS AG's office and MANY prominent people - such as Donald Trump - even contribute the maximum to BOTH CANDIDATES of contested races. I think it was much more likely he wanted to close the "side show" that is Paris' incarceration - and thought he could just get away with it. If you're going to accuse him of being bought, come up with something more substantial like an offer of a nice high paying executive security "job" with the Hilton chain after "retirement" from the Sheriff's office. That sheriff is too "big time" to sell out for just 1K!

Of course he wouldn't sell out for 1K. Who said he did? This is just circumstantial stuff. You know a "fix" when you see one... nobody is going to post "evidence" for you to look at and say - aha! That's the nature of the beast. But, my rule of thumb is: If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck.
I never thought I would have to quote this horrible paper: New York Post
June 8, 2007 -- PERHAPS it was her dedication to positive thinking. Or maybe it was her prayers at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills.
But if you believe that, then the wheels have fallen off your trolley.
The fix was in!
And it was all the work of Paris Hilton's scheming lawyer, Richard Hutton, and her superbly ruthless spinmeister, p.r. agent Elliot Mintz.
Now let's get the facts, Jack. If mood and body language are any guide, Paris was burning last week on Thursday when I talked to her as she worked out at the gym. She was so deflated, she acted like she was facing 25 years to life of hard time.
But on Friday night, when she was spied at Area nightclub, she breathed enough air kisses to blow up a balloon.
Self-absorbed? Absolutely. But more importantly, happy!
That's because she knew then that "the fix" was in.
No bribery occurred, of course. But attorney Hutton knew there was wiggle room in L.A. County jail procedure. He worked on securing a sweet deal with the sheriff, as Mintz choreographed her surrender.
Think about this: Paris turned herself in the last hours of Sunday, L.A. time - too late for nearly all the East Coast newspapers, which are more interested in this story than the L.A. Times.
Getting out of jail early yesterday morning was another masterpiece. Reporters left the scene about 2 a.m.
Shortly afterward, Paris splits the slammer. No pictures of her with straggly hair or no makeup.
But honestly, what can we expect from a company town?
How come O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake skated on legal thin ice and breathe fresh air today?
Would Detroit, a company town, hang a Ford executive in effigy if he committed the same offense as Paris Hilton? Of course not.
Do we throw eggs at Dick Grasso, formerly of the New York Stock Exchange, for his grotesque remuneration? Of course not.
So why would we expect anything from La La Land, which long ago replaced God with craven images - celebrities like Paris Hilton.

What's this? Poor Paris is being ignored
BY RICHARD HUFF
DAILY NEWS TV EDITOR
Saturday, June 23rd 2007, 4:00 AM
Jailbird heiress Paris Hilton gets uncaged no later than Tuesday.
But the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department declined to say when exactly Paris' "horrible and really hard" 23 whole days in the slammer will end, the celebrity Web site TMZ.com reported yesterday.
"Her actual hard release date is June 26," sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.
That means an army of writers and photographers surely will start camping at Century Regional Detention Center on Monday night and stay until Paris shows.
Definitely not waiting for Paris' return with bated breath is Barbara Walters.
After being passed over for the first TV interview with the jailbird, Walters and ABC have told the Hilton clan there's no interest in talking to Paris at all.
And poor Hilton isn't getting any love from NBC, either. "We have informed her people we are no longer interested in pursuing an interview," an NBC News spokeswoman said yesterday.
The rapid about-face by the networks came after Hilton's camp demanded big bucks to talk to the heiress when she is freed after serving her sentence for violating probation on an alcohol-related driving charge.
The rejection from Walters came after a flurry of late-night calls between Walters and Hilton's mother, Kathy Hilton. That led to a 2 a.m. call between Walters and Paris Hilton, set up by her aunt.
"Each of them tried to get the interview back on track, no strings attached," said an ABC executive with knowledge of the conversation.
Walters, the source said, agreed to nothing. Paris Hilton "said she was sorry about all of the negotiations that had been outside of her control," the source said.
Yesterday morning, Walters got a message from Paris Hilton's father, Rick Hilton. By afternoon, Walter's producer David Sloan called him to say there would be no interview.
"The machinations of the last couple days left them cold," the ABC source added.
Those same machinations also burned NBC. Both situations fell apart after the Hiltons tried to get upward of $1 million from the networks for access.
There was also speculation that Hilton's camp, which has hired crisis manager Michael Sitrick, realized getting any sort of payout - whether for an interview or licensing videos - would not improve her image.
Sitrick did not return a call for comment yesterday.

As 1st reported by Pussy is Good Food: Larry King to Interview Paris HiltonBy BILL CARTER Published: June 24, 2007 After deals with ABC and NBC fell through last week, Paris Hilton will now give her first post-jail interview to Larry King on CNN on Wednesday night. Mike Sitrick, a spokesman for the Hilton family, announced the agreement yesterday. Ms. Hilton is expected to be released on Tuesday from jail in Los Angeles, where she has been serving a sentence since June 3 for charges related to traffic violations. She and her representatives have been negotiating for the exclusive rights to the first interview for most of the past week. Both ABC and NBC were heavily involved in pursuing the interview, expecting it to attract high ratings. But the negotiations turned sour late last week when news accounts described the interaction between the networks and representatives of the Hiltons, which involved potential cash payments for materials that the Hiltons would provide with the interview, like photographs and videos. ABC had offered $100,000 for that deal but was told by the Hilton side that NBC was offering far more. On the print side, People magazine had made a deal to pay $300,000 for photos that would have accompanied an interview with Ms. Hilton. In the wake of all the publicity about the financial negotiations, all deals were withdrawn. Mr. Sitrick issued a statement saying Ms. Hilton would not seek money for an interview. ABC and NBC still declined to put on the interview. Instead, Mr. King will interview Ms. Hilton. A spokeswoman for his program, Bridget Leininger, said yesterday that no money had been paid for the interview. “Larry King never pays for interviews,†she said. But Ms. Leininger said she was unsure whether the program was going to use any photos and whether any fee would be paid to Getty Images, a photo agency that had previously made a deal to acquire rights to the first pictures of Ms. Hilton home from jail.

CNN is lying. "No money was paid for the interview." Instead money is paid for footage supplied by Paris' team to be used for the interview. Plausible deniability.
