Screaming Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail LOS ANGELES (AP) - Paris Hilton was taken from a courtroom screaming and crying Friday seconds after a judge ordered her returned to jail to serve out her entire 45-day sentence for a parole violation in a reckless driving case. "It's not right!" shouted the weeping Hilton. "Mom!" she called out to her mother in the audience. Hilton, who was brought to court in handcuffs in a sheriff's car, came into the courtroom disheveled and weeping. Her hair was askew and she wore a gray fuzzy sweatshirt over slacks. She wore no makeup and she cried throughout the hearing. Her body also shook constantly as she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents, seated behind her in the courtroom, and mouthed, "I love you."

Al Sharpton is the voice of reason. What else can I say. I've never heard of a prisoner being sent home from jail because it was too tough. That's pretty much the point.I've never heard of a sherif ignoring a judges order. Sherifs are usually elected. I have a feeling he's going to have quite a re-election.
Update: Paris is going back to jail. All is well in the world.

The dumb bitch could have avoided all this if she just didn't drive her car while on probation. She's rich enough that she could've hired someone to drive her for the, what was it, 2 months her license was suspended. When I had my license suspended for 1 year for a dwi you can believe me I didn't do any driving. Lots of walking, taxis and bumming rides.

Not only that - I still wonder what might have been had she actually been in court on time. Judges HATE late defendants. And why didn't she get herself to court this morning, just to be sure? She needs every bonus point she can get with this judge, and appearing to actually make an effort of some sort would be a Really Good Idea.
(gotta wonder where her personal attorney was - dude has got to understand this - if Paris won't listen to her lawyer he ought to withdraw)

Ever wonder why co-workers sometimes start riding bicycles to work? It's not always for the exercise...
The Sheriff added to her problems. The Sheriff's dept initially refused to pick her up (remember she's still officially in custody while under house arrest) and stated that she would call into the proceeding. The judge heard that on the radio on his way to work and went nuts. She was caught in the middle of a turf war between the Sheriff who runs the jails and who stays and goes and a judge with a hardon for a bimbo who thinks she's above it all. Remember, she got caught driving twice on a suspended license and oh by the way, something that hasn't been in the press lately, she was suppose to attend an alcohol eduction program within a certain number of days and blew that off too.
The chickens are roosting and she can do her time.

My friend has the cupcakes Paris gave to the media last night in celebration of her release before she got sent back to the clink today. We're throwing said cupcakes over the fence into the hills. Maybe a coyote will eat them. I apologize for the one that landed in the pool behind us.

That is the question of the year. I really can't see the sherif playing Capt. Save a Ho, especially since its prolly going to cost him his job. What was in it for him to not only release her, but do it without notifying the court or DA?
Cash. Cold Hard Cash. Turns out this Sheriff has a habit of taking serious amounts of cash from people: a Louisiana Sheriff would be proud. See quoted article below, with my highlights.
Quote:
But I think its still only 23 days. And I think the judge is going to tranfer her to a psych ward next week.
Standard for all prisoners would apparently be 23 days, and I've seen nothing to suggest this judge wants to do anything special for or against her, so 23 days is likely it.
As for the Sheriff: this guy is the same one that tried to cover up for Mel Gibson. And you gotta wonder about all that cash: if nothing else, how interested and able is he in keeping corruption out of the rest of the department? The Sheriff has apparent decided to back off on this one rather than risk a contempt hearing with the court.

Sheriff under fire in Paris Hilton case By MICHAEL BLOOD, Associated Press Writer Fri Jun 8, 9:19 PM ET
LOS ANGELES - This is not the first time that Lee Baca, the sheriff who opened the jail door for Paris Hilton, has had his judgment questioned.
He's been accused of using his authority to benefit friends and supporters. Since taking office he's accepted thousands of dollars worth of freebie meals, sports tickets and trips.
Now Baca is facing accusations of favoritism after making the decision that allowed Hilton to leave jail Thursday to serve out her sentence at her West Hollywood home.
He dismissed that criticism, saying Friday that Hilton had been ordered to spend an unusually long time behind bars.
Under his department's early release program, Hilton would not have served any time in jail and would have been put on home electronic monitoring, Baca said.
"The special treatment, in a sense, appears to be because of her celebrity status," he said. "She got more time in jail."
After ordering Hilton back to her cell Friday, Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer said he "at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff."
The union representing deputy sheriffs demanded that Baca "put a stop to his special treatment for celebrity inmates." And county Supervisor Don Knabe said he was stunned to find out Baca released Hilton without consulting the court.
"I would have thought he would have better judgment than that," Knabe said.
The county Board of Supervisors will demand a report on Hilton's release and Baca's decision-making in the matter, Knabe said.
For Baca, 65, who has led the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department since 1998, the blowback is not extraordinary.
When Mel Gibson was arrested for drunken driving, the department withheld video and audio tapes of the arrest, asserting they were exempt from open-government laws.
There were questions about favorable treatment for Gibson after a sheriff's spokesman initially said the arrest occurred "without incident" and made no mention of the superstar's now-notorious anti-Semitic rant.
"When a celebrity is involved, that's when people pay attention," said Robert Stern of the Center for Governmental Studies, a research group. "The big question ... is why didn't the sheriff go to the judge" before Hilton was released.
Baca has dismissed criticism over the decision.
Last year, the Los Angeles Times reported Baca put one of his closest friends on the payroll as a $105,000-a-year adviser.
The newspaper also said he had accepted more than $42,000 in gifts since taking office, including some from those who do business with his department.
In 2004, he took more gifts than California's other 57 sheriffs combined.
Baca oversees an 8,000-officer force that has been vexed by low morale, tight budgets, overcrowded jails and the persistence of gang crime.
Jonathan Wilcox, a Republican strategist who teaches a course on politics and celebrity at the University of Southern California, said Baca may be caught between public expectations and the reality of the criminal justice system:
"Sheriff Baca needs to be very concerned with at least the impression that the final frontier — the law — is now as affected by celebrity as almost every other aspect of our lives."

Oh yeah, one other bit of wisdom from the sheriff: Quote:
At a news conference on Friday, Sheriff Baca said: “The special treatment appears to be her celebrity status. She got more time in jail.â€
Remind me again when country sheriffs started reviewing judicial sentencing decisions?
If the sheriff gets into a contempt order from the judge and appeals he's just cost himself a bunch of points with whoever he has to convince that he has the right to reduce a sentence because he looked at the trial court's sentence and decided it was unfair.

Maybe this is part of the medical condition she was suffering in addition to the trauma of having to attend ( a special segregated area of ) the jail

Traffic was absolute MURDER yesterday on Sunset Blvd all because of this broad. Helicopters flying above and all, you would've thought the president died, but no, I was holed up at my friend's and couldn't get to the dentist.
Oh, and to the person who emailed me about how 'your just a jealouz hater. paris is my freind'...just because you did coke with Paris's maid once doesn't mean you're her friend.

Although Whitmore would not discuss Hilton's condition, Sheriff Lee Baca indicated at a news conference yesterday that it was psychological.
He said she arrived at her original jail with a condition he had not been told of and that it immediately began to deteriorate to the point that he feared for her safety.
"When you're talking about psychological problems it's far more complex and it does require a more complex medical approach," Baca said. "We didn't have all of our information."
Baca said he was placing Hilton in a "better facility for her condition, meaning one that has a more intense form of medical support". He said she would be kept under close watch to ensure "that there isn't anything harmful done to herself by herself, which is a great concern to me".
Whitmore said she will be there for at least another day.
Twin Towers is equipped to treat acute medical and mental health needs, although inmates in need of surgery are moved to a hospital for treatment. About 40 inmates are housed per floor, and most of the rooms are designed for one patient at a time.
Which jail the heiress will end up at after Twin Towers depends on the results of her assessment by the facility's doctors.
Sauer sentenced Hilton to 45 days in jail for violating probation in a reckless driving case and said she could not serve it at home. When she was released she had served only three full days but was credited with five because of her late-night surrender to authorities after attending last week's MTV Movie Awards. Before her release, she was fitted with an ankle bracelet and ordered not to leave her house until her sentence was up.
Just a day later Sauer ordered her to court and returned her to jail.
Hilton was credited with both her time served in jail and at home, so by today she had completed seven days of her sentence. With time off for good behaviour, she could be released in a little more than two weeks.
She could go home even sooner if she can successfully appeal her sentence. Her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, confirmed her lawyers plan to file an appeal.
-----------------------------------------------
I'm sure if any non-celebrity was going to prison the sheriff would have no hesitation to throw them straight into a cell with Bubba
It sounds like even if Paris doesn't make an appeal she will only be there a couple of weeks at most on account of good behaviour

Paris's grandad gave election cash to sheriff who

Paris Hilton's billionaire grandfather donated money last year to the sheriff who released the 26-year-old heiress from jail.
William Barron Hilton, 78, co-chairman of the Hilton Hotel chain, made a contribution of around £500 (=$1,000) to Sheriff Lee Baca’s re-election campaign - the maximum allowed by law - according to financial records.
The Mail on Sunday examined the returns after a friend of the Hilton family claimed Paris’s release may have been a 'quid pro quo'.
The friend said: "A member of her family has been a contributor to Baca’s campaign and this may have been payback time.
"Her entourage initially were confident she would be out of jail in a few days."

Toooooooooooo much read into that. A person of that ilk would likely to have contributed the maximum to ANY AND EVERY politician guaranteed to be elected - INCLUDING THE CITY PROSECUTOR. I used to analyze the contribution data for the NYS AG's office and MANY prominent people - such as Donald Trump - even contribute the maximum to BOTH CANDIDATES of contested races. I think it was much more likely he wanted to close the "side show" that is Paris' incarceration - and thought he could just get away with it. If you're going to accuse him of being bought, come up with something more substantial like an offer of a nice high paying executive security "job" with the Hilton chain after "retirement" from the Sheriff's office. That sheriff is too "big time" to sell out for just 1K!

Of course he wouldn't sell out for 1K. Who said he did? This is just circumstantial stuff. You know a "fix" when you see one... nobody is going to post "evidence" for you to look at and say - aha! That's the nature of the beast. But, my rule of thumb is: If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck.
I never thought I would have to quote this horrible paper: New York Post
June 8, 2007 -- PERHAPS it was her dedication to positive thinking. Or maybe it was her prayers at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Beverly Hills.
But if you believe that, then the wheels have fallen off your trolley.
The fix was in!
And it was all the work of Paris Hilton's scheming lawyer, Richard Hutton, and her superbly ruthless spinmeister, p.r. agent Elliot Mintz.
Now let's get the facts, Jack. If mood and body language are any guide, Paris was burning last week on Thursday when I talked to her as she worked out at the gym. She was so deflated, she acted like she was facing 25 years to life of hard time.
But on Friday night, when she was spied at Area nightclub, she breathed enough air kisses to blow up a balloon.
Self-absorbed? Absolutely. But more importantly, happy!
That's because she knew then that "the fix" was in.
No bribery occurred, of course. But attorney Hutton knew there was wiggle room in L.A. County jail procedure. He worked on securing a sweet deal with the sheriff, as Mintz choreographed her surrender.
Think about this: Paris turned herself in the last hours of Sunday, L.A. time - too late for nearly all the East Coast newspapers, which are more interested in this story than the L.A. Times.
Getting out of jail early yesterday morning was another masterpiece. Reporters left the scene about 2 a.m.
Shortly afterward, Paris splits the slammer. No pictures of her with straggly hair or no makeup.
But honestly, what can we expect from a company town?
How come O.J. Simpson and Robert Blake skated on legal thin ice and breathe fresh air today?
Would Detroit, a company town, hang a Ford executive in effigy if he committed the same offense as Paris Hilton? Of course not.
Do we throw eggs at Dick Grasso, formerly of the New York Stock Exchange, for his grotesque remuneration? Of course not.
So why would we expect anything from La La Land, which long ago replaced God with craven images - celebrities like Paris Hilton.
