It's comical how passionate you people are about insulting the line of work you're in. "Checks that bounce"??? Uhhh, last time that happened to me I was 12 years old mowing lawns. "Missed deadlines"??? Yeah, the porn industry is the ONLY place that happens. "Double dealings"??? That's business, bitch. As far as the talent being one scene away from catching aids, well, that's the risk the talent takes to make money AND to make money for every other leech in the business from the Director down to the mop boy. Without these, as you "insiders" call them,...
conceited, self centered, money grubbing, "whores"...you would all be out of work.
Part of the problem is that you paint with a mighty broad brush, suggesting everyone here is cut from the same cloth. On purely technical/semantic terms, they are correct when calling sex workers various names that you have decided are derogatory; names that even the performers have routinely embraced as part and parcel of their chosen profession.
As far as the insiders' right to complain or vent about their profession, this should strike you as no different from any other profession where people "in the know" complain about aspects of their work and are not automatically looked down upon as a reason for them to get the fuck out. The same holds true for those who simply watch porn that don't claim to be insiders but might think heaping praise on every gal that spreads her legs gets old. I like the fantasy the industry allows them to project as much as the next guy and as an outsider have been treated very nicely by a number of those inside the industry but my dealings are typically limited to dealing with them when they are on their best behavior (so unlike the slavering fanboys that take it all too far and too seriously, I can appreciate the wisdom of the downside).
To sum it up, if you want to heap unconditional praises on those in porn and be embraced as a swell person, by all means hang out at ADT where there are "classes" of people with protected status. If you eventually take issue with something said or the heavy handed moderation there, you may find the pack mentality gets old quickly. If you want to hear a less sugarcoated version of the industry and have more freedom to express yourself, XPT will be the superior choice. There are numerous other forums as well but this is a quick take on the different mentalities of the two websites.
