Of course she won't Announce it. But I do believe she'll instruct her AG to quietly let it die. A Hillary DOJ would be too focused on revenge investigations and prosecutions of Right Wing groups and Leaders to worry about obsceneties cases.
But I hope it's one of the other yahoos the Party's got running that ultimately makes it. I don't like anyone running, in either party, yet her and Rudy piss me off the most. But at least one of the Dingbat Dems would also let it die. Can't say that about the Retarded Republicans.

IIRC, CDC was signed as part of legislative bargaining with an opposition Congress. (I could be wrong about that, though.) My point is that after Whitewater, Monica, Travelgate, Vince Foster and a hundred other partisan investigations of the Clinton White House, Blondie McLezbo will be gunning for everyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi. And she would instrut her DOJ and White House Counsel accordingly.
I'm not against holding the Republicans' feet to the fire per se. THere's many I'd like to see go down, starting with Richard Mellon Scaife. But this culture we have where every 4-8 years the party in power goes on a jihad of partisan prosecutions just ain't good for the country. Unfortunately, it's only going to get worse.

Obama's the "Flava" of the month. He won't get the Democraticic nomination if the powers that be seriously want to win. And if they're really so stupid as to give it to him (and they might be) the electorate will vote Republican no matter how sick of Bush Co. they are. It's not happening. Not in 2008, anyway. In my lifetime, sure. but not untill I'm an old man.

Just look at the Venue: The Redneck part of Florida. Max is almost guaranteed to lose at Trial, but this case will not be decided at Trial. It will be decided either in the 11th Circuit Court of appeals (which covers Florida, Georgia and Alabama; not exactly Porn-Friendly territory) or, ultimately, by the US Supreme Court itself. Take one look at the makeup of the high court and ask yourself what Max's chances are there.
Realistically, the only chance, both for Max and for the industry as a whole, is for the Dems to win in '08, and for that winner to let the matter quietly die. If Obama is indeed the party's frontrunner then I'm glad, because historically, the frontrunner this far out in the election cycle never wins the primary. Usually never even comes close. Just ask Paul Tsongas. Oh wait, he's dead, never mind. Or look at Jimmy Carter, someone who came out of nowhere to triumph over the "known" candidates in '76.

Granted, they're all whores. But there are some whores that have limits, and some that'll do anything for a buck, or a vote. I didn't say it was a good chance, but it it just about his only one.
If it were to happen, the hypothetical Dem Candidate in our scenario would obviously not make Max a campaign issue. Nor would he, his AG, or the DOJ spokesman make an announcement that the prosecution was dropped. Nobody scores political points supporting porn. But I can see it being dropped quietly, without fanfare, the way most dropped prosecutions (whatever the offence) are handled. Federal, State and Local prosecutors do it all the time, usually when a case falls apart, a witness dissappears or recants or some other change in circumstances renders a prosecution untenable. "Just a routine matter," they say, and that's how I envision it would be handled in this scenario.
One thing I guarantee you is that the case would not be dropped if a Republican were to win the election, under any circumstances. So he, and the industry, are better off rolling the dice and hoping that the Dems win.
Interestingly, it seems likely that Max's trial would not start until after November 4, 2008, anyway, so he does have reason to bet on the outcome of the election.

I don't see where Ron Paul would have any interest in pursuing this case.
Paul and Edwards are the most decent of the lot from their respective parties. But neither has a snowball's chance in Hell, so I tend to discount them both.

I gave money to Edwards last go around and dissagree on his being decent. He has admitted that in his heart he dissagreed with goign to Iraq and voted in favor of it cause of political calculations. Sorry, but he abandoned his principles on a national security issue. Then again, I believe Rudy is decent and I know you dissagree with that assesment.

Porn isn't in danger. Good porn isn't obscene by community standards. Pissing on, beating, degrading women--that's obscene by community standards. Most people would agree. Those are the rules. Porn should abide by them. It's just a business and not worth going to jail over. The fact is that porners make extreme content to make money, and accept the risks.

The Brooklyn museum is a perfect example of what Rudy would do to the adult industry. Good Catholic that he is (despite his three marriages --one to his cousin-- his support for Gays, Abortion Rights and the Death Penalty) He always manages to get his ire up when his good buddy Bill Donohough tells him that something is obscene or violates the teachings of the church.
Still it's the bit about Freedom being about ceedeing rights unto Authority that really scares me. Because it won't stop with Porn or other lawful activity that resides on the outskirts of polite society. There are those who believe that America has become a Police State under Bush. I personally wouldn't go that far, although it has become more authoritarian. But if they think it's bad now, wait until Rudy takes over. Then you'll see the Fourth Reich in action.
The irony is that Rudy is probably the most sincere of all the candidates. He truly believes in thes Freedom/Authority nonsense. He truly believes he can be a Good Catholic while believing in abortion rights. And he truly believes he's never, never, never done one wrong thing. It's always the True Believers that are the most dangerous.

As Mayor, he didn't have authority to initiate criminal proceedings under New York State's Penal Code or under NYCRR. As Presidedent, he'd have Title 18 and a Host of Administrative Regulations to play with. I smell a Rat, Moxie, and he's got a bad combover. Or at least he used to, when he had something to comb over.

I'll gladly admit I drink Koolaide for Rudy. But if he's got problems I'll admit them. If he's not the candidate I'll probably vote for a democrat not named Hillary. So mI'm no Neocon.
Did you expect him to say, "Bush is a Moron, we're fucked" while we were under attack? Tell me which candidate hasn't been a little phony? As for Lying, Rudy convicted Mark Rich, Hillary pardoned him for a campaign donation. Who you gonna trust?
