i have no interest in doing the legwork, but during that mid/late 90's period where porn=vivid&wicked stuff that was pretty tame, had plots, etc. were there any obscenity charges brought against the major players in that era? we're talking strictly pre-gonzo stuff that would be considered essentially "couples porn" today.

the glammed-out bolt-on blonde feature shit made it into hotel rooms everywhere and every major cable service and i don't remember the government going ballistic with charges and lawyers resisting adult shit spreading through shit it controls and regulates.

all i remember is a bunch of stuff like the cda and attempts to restrict minors from purchasing the shit.

i'm sure there were some silly charges against stores selling buttplugs in the south or some dudes making or selling scat and fisting shit, but between the meese shit and the rise of gonzo, max and rob zicari there seemed to be an era of uneasy acceptance between porn/gov't.


i don't by any means think anyone should be incarcerated for making porn where nobody dies or gets raped, but let's face it-max puts out shit that's just a dare for the federales to come after him. everybody knows more or less what's going to get you charged, and the guy's been hammering away and flirting with it constantly. i hope he wins his case, but if porn stayed vivid/wicked/dp the government would be stuck trying to prosecute material indistinguishable from what they've already prosecuted in the past. "pirates" WILL be considered SIGNIFIGANTLY less-offensive than sexually-violent shit with actresses made up to look like children to any community save for british merchant sailors who hate pirates.
