I can't see the AAFC as a "failed" league. The league "closed" only after the "best" of its teams, including the 4 time league champion Cleveland Browns, merged with the NFL for the 1950 season.


It had to closed shop. The league couldn't sustain itself. Only a handful of teams were profitable and Seattle never had more than 10,000 in attendance. A successful league would still be around, even today.
