The more common term is yanks, but seppos gets used a bit too. It comes from the term 'Septic Tank' which rhymes with 'Yank'

Thanks I have always wondered if Aussies thoght that most Americans had septic tanks instead of sewers which I find to be untrue. But you say it is because it rymes with Yank, Thanks for giving me the scoop. I must be watching too many surfing movies to now that term (seppos) anyway.
