If you don't do drugs or gays, and avoid those who do, you're still fairly safe from HIV in the US. That's gradually changing, but the spread of HIV in the non-drug heterosexual population still appears to be pretty slow.

I posted a reference to the CDC stats a couple of weeks ago on this. Jeff's comments could be interpreted as "Avoid contact with risk groups".

PS. I'm not saying here that gays are Evil here but rather that it's where the main HIV reservoir is at this point
