Truth is an absolute defense against libel or slander, whether the victim is public or private.

Your legal name is part of the public record. It's not private or protected information.

About 20 years ago Joan Rivers gave out Victoria Principal's unlisted phone number on the air on Joan's TV show (? - I may have the names wrong here?). I think there was a lawsuit but I don't know on what basis, or if it ever got to trial to test the merits. An unlisted phone number is not part of the public record until made public.

California probably has stronger anti-stalking laws than most states. There may be something else. The DOJ site on stalking mentons a 1996 federal law and a CA state law but neither seem to apply to releasing public information.
