I don't look at it as poster(s) who need to step up, but as poster(s) who need to step down. I'm a reasonable, decent person, despite what some of my posts may suggest, and if the "Old Guard" or basically those whose posts I enjoy reading all ganged up on me and said I sucked, contributed to polls about my suckage, and then I ultimately got banned for said suckage, I would fade away. Why would I stick around where I'm hated? Why would I continue to ruin what others feel could be a pleasurable experience without me?
Raoul, I'm looking at you. You're a bag of wind that never deflates. You're painfully awful and loathed by more than just the people who have posted openly about it, and you simply cannot accept it. Lack of self-awareness is akin to being blind, and I’d pity you if you were more naïve and less headstrong. You got banned (by a hot, cool chick, nonetheless), and you didn't learn a thing from it. It took less than a day for you to jump back into your spastic, sycophantic creepiness, put Simp's cock in your mouth, call him a friend (which is laughable, by the way), then proceed to fag-up what should have been a classic thread. Simp doesn't need you to "get his back", you fucking imbecile. Nobody needs you to do anything except suffer debilitating injuries to both of your hands. I think I can speak for many when I say I'd rather see this place come to a dead stop than read anything more from you.
Look, newbies, lurkers, and those lacking sense, most realize there will never be another Arab or Monkey. I certainly can't fill their shoes, and I think most old timers have come to expect that nobody else will either. Those two were flukes, anomalies. Everyone cannot rival George Carlin's wit and humor, and it would be foolish to hope otherwise. Just try to be entertaining and do everything in your power to not be like Raoul.
And Moxie, the problem I think people have with you deleting the pic is that you’re trying to make this place what you want it to be, and not what it is. Does that explanation make sense to you?

All I have to say on this matter is personally, you dont find me pining for the old days (i.e. when I first joined.) I dont really flame, criticize or judge much either. I find it pointless to hearken back to what was yesterday's XPT in a manner other than basic appreciation. Move on...
If a person writes funny, interesting or stimulating posts, great...if they dont, I ignore them. Unless they attack me directly, or otherwise shit on the path I am trying to wheel. I dont have mudflaps on my current everyday w/chair.
And I am sorry, but for fucks sake, STOP with the worship of Arab and Monkey. You are just making it worse bemoaning their absence like they were the only ones who knew how to post or write funny, intelligent shit. They were/are exceptional, but get a fucking grip...You'd be surprised who I actually thought were the best all around posters in XPT history.
Everyone needs to stop trying so hard, or to stop being AFRAID to try....and just be yourself, for better or worse.

Damn, I came late to the party on this one. . . .
I've enjoyed the contributions of many posters during my time here. Some are still here, others are gone, some come back like herpes or left us wanting for more. I don't see there being any superiority in tenure here, more like mileage. We know where the various currents and eddy's are about the place and we take actions accordingly. Having an open-mic platform is going to be problematic, it's a fact. The Dr. Pornzs, Melb_Matts, and Smartts who have passed through before left an impression and the board was better with their absence. Many recognize comeuppance when their pinched and get the hang, others are the snakes who couldn't hack it during hazing. Things get played out or ruined. I can't feel free to use haiku since that asshole bad_bad spammed the place with 'em! I don't understand why we're made to suffer for so long when the solutions are obvious, but I'll abide, or I'll go. You get what you pay for, and so far I've paid $0 for all the entertainment I've received in here. It's been a bargain, and that's where I'll keep my perspective. Unless I was made a mod, of course, then there would be slaughter.

At the risk of getting it bit off and spat back at me I'm going to stick my nose into this. The water level of XPT is not determined by how many Monkeys, Arabs, James, Simps, etc that are thrown into it. It is determined by how many Lockwoods, Lori Lusts, Luke Fords, and the like that are thrown into it. Reality and delusions make for better material than straight fiction no matter how good the writer of the fiction is. When XPT is on the upswing it is because these usual suspects are in full bloom, when XPT enters the horse latitudes it is because these same folk, or at least their typical behavior is in hibernation. The posts are only going to be as good as the material that inspires them.
Of course I've only been here a month or so what the hell do I know?

I just don't get this "I miss this guy, and I miss that guy" shit. They don't post here anymore, move on. Jesus, it really makes me wonder how some of you cope with death, and actual loss if you're so broken up about some faceless, degenerate posters leaving.
If someone copies an old poster's style, they get jumped on for being unoriginal. If someone has their own style, they're constantly compared to the old guys. It's a no win situation.
Bottom line, you don't like it here, no one's forcing you to post. You don't like the quality, then come up with something better, or shut the fuck up.
I vote this the #1 whiniest, pussyfest of a thread on XPT.

XPT is a board that beats its young to death "for their own good" and then wonders why there is nobody around to take over. But that's another problem for another day. Let's deal with Raoul first. Raoul Duke is Eric Cartman – he is annoying, he makes it impossible for you to ignore him, he will not listen and he will not stop. Fuck him. I am strictly a small-time poster. After lurking here for two years or so I thought I should register but mostly I lurk. It is time for me to speak up. I am 100% certain that I speak for every single unregistered lurker when I say that the choice between banning Raoul or letting Raoul stay and saying goodbye to posters like Gia, Ceara, Bornyo, Jamesn and others is no choice at all. I cannot believe that this is the way things are going, apparently with Mr Steward's blessing. From what I understand, the ethos of this board is to have little, preferably zero moderation but there comes a time when doing nothing doesn't work and a quick surgical decision is needed to get things back on track. Now is that time. Ban Raoul Duke for a year. If his thoughts are so important to you go and read them at ADT. Can somebody please make this happen?

I don't see anything wrong with venting or "thinning the herd" because it's never the actions of one, but a concerted effort among many to shape this place up when it's falling into disrepair. It's a necessary evil. If you want to see what happens to a board when the Raoul's outnumber the Bornyo's, just click over to everyone's favorite whipping post, ADT.
But something tells me more than a few of you here would be happy with XPT becoming more like ADT. I sort of hope you get what you wish for.

I find myself forced to agree with Bornyo and Random. I lurked for years and only started posting after Jeff pulled the site last year.
No Monkey, no Arab etc. but this place has to evolve or die. There will always be good and bad posters, but if all the quality posters decide to take a vacation, then XPT will just get worse.
The OGs need to up their game and fight from the castle ramparts if they don't like their fellow posters. It's the XPT way.

I'm bumping this again to answer your question freestylah, not to trot out the same complaint. This thread has a lot of great posters in it past and present, and shows the more things change the more they stay the same.
I really enjoyed the dialogue with some of these folks over the years.
