I'm on Kings shitlist, and by his criteria deservedly so. I haven't been posting, but I've been lurking and trying to decide if my thoughts about xpt are correct. I conclude they are.
I realize now that the combination of posters here when I joined was the exception, not the rule. I thought as some left, others would step in and fill the void but it's become apparent it isn't happening. Gia Jordan,Padover, Kami, Jenna Jameson (however briefly) XXXibitionist. Simp designing the gagfactor logo and getting a free t-shirt, Smelly Monkey flinging the most hilarious material all over the place, Jamesn, Smiling Arab, WillieD Burg and Random. Even the heels, like Samurra, Garfield and Smartt were in a different league. It will never be that way again, clearly. It was a unique, one-off combination of personalities never to be repeated. And man was it fun.
A board that takes a thread showcasing photographs of their resident poet laureate- the muse of the board, and turns it into the gayest of gay ADT "Pictures of Ourselves" threads is just lame. Pure and simple.
Every one of MsSwifts lion posts was timely and appropriate. It's also appropriate that the ones they were directed towards were oblivious of their meaning, and that most who knew what swift meant thought they were hilariously correct. And then a moderator who has been registered for a few months fucking deletes the picture and edits the post? Sorry- that's fucking lame. JRV on his worst night didn't stoop so low.
The intent of the draft thread was to express a desire to trade out these lame new posters- not to steal or recruit any from ADT. Rauol if you'll unplug your keyboard and read the board with your mouse only it'll make you a better poster.
So, sorry King. For now it's all yours.

I wasn't gonna get into this, but since I've been called out...  King's absolutely right. I like Y'all, but you can be a whiny bunch of fucks sometimes. Always pining for the old days. I've been reading the archives extensively in the last two weeks. God there was some funny shit. Monkey and Arab had me pissing in my pants. James was even better than he is now. And of course the legendary Chickenmaster. Even the villains like S***TT, Sammura and Early Ryan Knox were larger-than-life and cartoonish. That stuff is Gold and my favorite threads list is long. But guess what, people. Those folks ain't here any more. I don't know what happened to the Arab, and Monkey seems to be either dead or in jail. So what's your response to the matter? Do you step up to the plate and deliver for the team? No. You sit around whining like a bunch of middle aged losers whose glory days ended in High School, nursing a more expensive beer than you used to chug because your livers, and your funnybones, are not what they used to be. That's fucking pathetic. I watch the "Who's Online" function and am amazed what I see: 13, 14, 17 people on line and no one's posting a thing for hours. Hours. And half or more are invisable, which says to me they're (a) intelligent and (b) probably old timers. Old timers doing nothing but whining. So I swing and I miss. At least I step up the the fucking plate, Bornyo. I don't see you doing the same, or a lot of other old timers besides James. Sometimes I think that if it weren't for me, nobody'd be posting at all. I know that there's plenty of y'all that can do better than me. As my Grandfather used to say: Shit or get off the pot. ...And quit yer whining.

In my short time here, I've noticed just about every time things get dull, the "Top Dogs" complain it's the new guys' fault.
XPT seems to only get really interesting when really good/scandalous/funny/what-have-you gossip or news hits. I've read plenty of older posts and seen just as many that sucked or were just boring. There were just as many LAME-O posters then as there is today. Dr. Pornz, anyone. Sure we can't all be Willie Ds, Smiling Arabs, Smelly Monkeys or even Smartts, and if we tried to be, we'd get smacked down from not being original.
But whenever XPT starts to get dull, it seems like the "old folks" yell at the "young'ins" that it's their fault the board sucks. It almost feels like it's our duty, if we want to post here, to entertain you guys.
As for myself, I try. I try to come up with interesting and/or funny posts and responses. I try to entertain while entertaining myself. I try to please, but it's seems like there is no pleasing some of you cranky bastards.
Oh well, at the end of the day, it's just another Internet message board. In the grand scheme of things(whatever the fuck it may be), it more than likely doesn't even matter when it comes down to it. It's just a fun little way to waste time that I think some may take too seriously.
I dunno, that's just the way things seem to me. My 5 cents and all that stuff.

Let me reverse the argument and tell you that this place is not fun to contribute to any more. The posts are either one sentence of mindlessness, or a novel of mindlessness. I like to think that I actually tried to say something either funny, insightful, informative, or inflamatory most of the time. All I have seen the last few weeks are some mindless "you suck" "no, you suck more" flame wars, a complete lack of mindful interaction among the users (either positive or negative), a 123-post Monkey Cage love-in that makes me want to shut the whole place down, and an endless supply of mediocrity.
I don't often blow my own horn, but I contributed plenty, and the recent state of the place kills the impetus to continue. I'm perhaps more confident than Bornyo that a decent Cage can emerge, but it will take more than what I've seen recently.

And one other thing that I was reminded of in a PM: I like Windsock a great deal. He's always been a friend to me and stood up when others called for my head. That's why I posted my pic. I had to stand by my friend. The ones I dug up from the Archives were because nobody else besides GiGi and Moronboy had the balls to do it. I figured maybe they'd see that others have done it and they'd do it too. It's not "Gay as ADT". (BTW: Have you ever said that to Drew? Didn't think so.)

Raoul some of us have jobs, nay careers that make it impossible for such a posting of our self pics...some of us also feel that it kills some of the mystique...to me Bornyo is Cash...when i found out that Zen wasnn't Mussellini(sp) that fucked me up a lil but at least i found out he was that dude in the woody allen films. You really did kinda step all over the Windsock photo thread. The fact that he posted his pics was pretty amazing (altho he will always be Oppenheimer to me). I am sure you can understand that seeing what you look like really held nothing close to the appeal and amazement. I will take this moment to out myself as MsSwift...I created the alt id to fuck with windsock in PMs after he said something about dominique Swift or some such porno whore. I also had a fun thread where i was abusive in a loving way to Loopnode ( i was really drunk). I have never abused it in a Brandon Iron manner but also thought it would be useful since i am just really the "Youtube Man" on here and generally don't want to get into internet pissing contests. On the contrary Elab, I think it takes Balls to admit an alt-id and possibly incurr(from what I've read, though I don't know if it's true) some time in the box. I knew it was someone who has been here a while. And I've seen the Loop stuff. Pretty funny. Other stuff, well, less so. In any event, you have my respect for doing so. Of course my fugly visage won't generate the interest or excitement that Travis' will. I said that from the beginning. (He's better looking than me too.) But as I said, my intention was to stand by him, not step on him, and if Windsock takes any offense by it, well bro, I apologize. You know I meant well. The rest of you can suck my left nut. And yeah, I understand about Jobs and Careers. There's a couple of posters who know what I do that think I'm crazy for posting my pic. I'm just crazy period. But others arent, and some have stated their reasons for not posting and I respect that. Others, who said nothing, a little less,but it's their perrogative. I don't attend Twelve Steps. I have a medical condition, which makes Boozing impossible. But even if I was still drinking, I wouldn't have the nasty meltdowns this guy has.

I don't look at it as poster(s) who need to step up, but as poster(s) who need to step down. I'm a reasonable, decent person, despite what some of my posts may suggest, and if the "Old Guard" or basically those whose posts I enjoy reading all ganged up on me and said I sucked, contributed to polls about my suckage, and then I ultimately got banned for said suckage, I would fade away. Why would I stick around where I'm hated? Why would I continue to ruin what others feel could be a pleasurable experience without me?

All I have to say on this matter is personally, you dont find me pining for the old days (i.e. when I first joined.) I dont really flame, criticize or judge much either. I find it pointless to hearken back to what was yesterday's XPT in a manner other than basic appreciation. Move on...
If a person writes funny, interesting or stimulating posts, great...if they dont, I ignore them. Unless they attack me directly, or otherwise shit on the path I am trying to wheel. I dont have mudflaps on my current everyday w/chair.
And I am sorry, but for fucks sake, STOP with the worship of Arab and Monkey. I've enjoyed the contributions of many posters during my time here. Some are still here, others are gone, some come back like herpes or left us wanting for more. I don't see there being any superiority in tenure here, more like mileage. We know where the various currents and eddy's are about the place and we take actions accordingly. Having an open-mic platform is going to be problematic, it's a fact. The Dr. Pornzs, Melb_Matts, and Smartts who have passed through before left an impression and the board was better with their absence. Many recognize comeuppance when their pinched and get the hang, others are the snakes who couldn't hack it during hazing. Things get played out or ruined. I can't feel free to use haiku since that asshole bad_bad spammed the place with 'em! I don't understand why we're made to suffer for so long when the solutions are obvious, but I'll abide, or I'll go. You get what you pay for, and so far I've paid $0 for all the entertainment I've received in here. It's been a bargain, and that's where I'll keep my perspective. Unless I was made a mod, of course, then there would be slaughter.

At the risk of getting it bit off and spat back at me I'm going to stick my nose into this. The water level of XPT is not determined by how many Monkeys, Arabs, James, Simps, etc that are thrown into it. It is determined by how many Lockwoods, Lori Lusts, Luke Fords, and the like that are thrown into it. Reality and delusions make for better material than straight fiction no matter how good the writer of the fiction is. When XPT is on the upswing it is because these usual suspects are in full bloom, when XPT enters the horse latitudes it is because these same folk, or at least their typical behavior is in hibernation. The posts are only going to be as good as the material that inspires them.
Of course I've only been here a month or so what the hell do I know?

XPT is a board that beats its young to death "for their own good" and then wonders why there is nobody around to take over. But that's another problem for another day. Let's deal with Raoul first. Raoul Duke is Eric Cartman – he is annoying, he makes it impossible for you to ignore him, he will not listen and he will not stop. Fuck him. I am strictly a small-time poster. After lurking here for two years or so I thought I should register but mostly I lurk. It is time for me to speak up. I am 100% certain that I speak for every single unregistered lurker when I say that the choice between banning Raoul or letting Raoul stay and saying goodbye to posters like Gia, Ceara, Bornyo, Jamesn and others is no choice at all. I cannot believe that this is the way things are going, apparently with Mr Steward's blessing. From what I understand, the ethos of this board is to have little, preferably zero moderation but there comes a time when doing nothing doesn't work and a quick surgical decision is needed to get things back on track. Now is that time. Ban Raoul Duke for a year. If his thoughts are so important to you go and read them at ADT. Can somebody please make this happen?

I don't see anything wrong with venting or "thinning the herd" because it's never the actions of one, but a concerted effort among many to shape this place up when it's falling into disrepair. It's a necessary evil. If you want to see what happens to a board when the Raoul's outnumber the Bornyo's, just click over to everyone's favorite whipping post, ADT.
But something tells me more than a few of you here would be happy with XPT becoming more like ADT. I sort of hope you get what you wish for.

I find myself forced to agree with Bornyo and Random. I lurked for years and only started posting after Jeff pulled the site last year.
No Monkey, no Arab etc. but this place has to evolve or die. There will always be good and bad posters, but if all the quality posters decide to take a vacation, then XPT will just get worse.
The OGs need to up their game and fight from the castle ramparts if they don't like their fellow posters. It's the XPT way.

I'm bumping this again to answer your question freestylah, not to trot out the same complaint. This thread has a lot of great posters in it past and present, and shows the more things change the more they stay the same.
I really enjoyed the dialogue with some of these folks over the years.
