LOS ANGELES CA / SACRAMENTO CA - (April 25, 2007 DMPR) - As pundits from every shade of the political spectrum continue to weigh in on the many issues facing our nation, a political discourse of a radically different stripe quietly unfolded earlier this week in Sacramento, California, as AVN award-winning director DAVID STANLEY and veteran adult industry executive JOY KING, both of Canoga Park-based WICKED PICTURES, joined forces with other industry representatives to visit members of the California Legislature.

King, Wicked's Vice President Of Special Projects, contract director Stanley, and other luminaries of erotica took part in the 10th Annual CELEBRATE FREE SPEECH LOBBYING DAYS, a yearly initiative organized by the FREE SPEECH COALITION that has become the model for mutually beneficial cooperation and education between the government and the adult industry. Representatives from all areas of the adult business were in attendance to answer questions and provide interviews.

In addition to esteemed industry professionals like Stanley and King, Free Speech Coalition Executive Director Diane Duke and California Lobbyist Matt Gray were on hand to discuss important issues and bills currently facing the adult entertainment industry, including controversial SB 915, which would authorize cities to zone homes that house sex offenders as "adult oriented businesses."

Also discussed was the similarly controversial AB 1551 by Assemblyman Charles Calderon (D-Whittier), which pushes the controversial "Adult Entertainment Venue Tax" considered by many within the adult community as creating another cumbersome barrier to conducting business effectively within the state of California. King, Duke, Gray, and industry performer Mary Carey personally met with Calderon to voice their views on his proposed legislation.

King is justifiably proud to be once again spearheading Wicked's involvement with this worthy cause, observing, "Lobbying on behalf of the industry was an extremely gratifying experience this year. With two bills to oppose we hit the ground running and accomplished a great deal. I'm proud and honored to be part of the political process and make sure that the voice of the adult entertainment industry is heard in the state capitol." Similarly Stanley, making his first trip to Sacramento, enjoyed his time there and proved to be one of the most popular guests at the Free Speech Legislation Reception sponsored by Wicked. "In all, it was a great experience. I learned alot, and hopefully I brought a fresh perspective to the people I met with. I look forward to doing this again."

For King, the Lobbying Days appearance coincided with several media stories she's participated in recently, including a current PLAYGIRL magazine profile devoted to female executives in adult entertainment, and a PR WEEKLY piece devoted to the marketing of adult entertainment within the mainstream media.

The Free Speech Coalition's mission statement is to safeguard adult entertainment from oppressive governmental regulation, and to promote good business practices within the industry.

Wicked Pictures is happy to have once again supported this worthwhile endeavor in a personal, hands-on manner, and encourages all concerned citizens to raise their voices and defend everyone's First Amendment right to free speech.

Given that there are a number of contract girls that are actually fairly erudite in interviews, why does the industry insist on wheeling out the train wreck that is Mary Carey?
