I don't plan to comment much on this out of deference to Michael and his ability service his client without interference. I'll just point out a few issues.
1. I assume its a defamation action. Since the allegations concern internet content, it can be venued in California.
2. The plaintiff will need to demonstrate how he was financialy damaged.
3. I pressume the defendant will claim Journalistic priviledge under California's Journalist Sheild Statute which is one of the strongest in the nation.
4. The defendant will claim that bloggers are not Journalists. One Califiornia Court said They Are Not this was appealed and the pannel said They are
