I was wondering how everyone buys their porn in store or online. I only buy from a store, either from my friend who runs a local video store or I go into NYC every once in a while to really stock up. I like to buy in person because I want to look at all the packaging and also to make sure the DVD is not off the spindle and getting thrown around in the case, scratched porn really breaks up the mood.

In Australia its illegal to sell porn over the counter except in the ACT. So 98% of people, including me, buy them online. VHS is dirt cheap, but DVD can get exxy.

I buy all my porn online. The smut shops around here want between $40 to $60 bucks for a DVD. They are still pawning overpriced $30 VHS tapes too. I have no idea how they stay in business.

It is illegal for a retailer to sell x rated material over the counter in any state bar ACT and NT, but it is not illegal to purchase x rated material online or from shops in the ACT or NT. It is illegal for any person to own or sell material that has been refused classification (RC) by the Office Of Film And Literature Classification. From a story in 'The Australian' Newspaper:- Federal law permits X-rated material; states and territories ban its sale – well, sort of – which has given rise to Canberra's thriving mail-order business. X material censorship guidelines, are so strict Calvista takes three months to get a new DVD title approved and on the shelves. Bootleggers distribute imported unclassified (illegal) material direct from dock to retailers. It's the same at the retail end, where OFLC-approved material often makes up only a small proportion of titles on sale. And remember that everywhere except the ACT and Northern Territory it is technically illegal to sell such material. Queensland has by far the most draconian laws, and outlaws the sale of any X material as well as banning the sale of category 1 or 2 classified literature (explicit magazines and books such as American Psycho). http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,8827324%255E462,00.html

Man that sucks I'm glad that there seems to be a way though that you can get your porn anyway, it would really suck if you couldn't.

I think you will find it is, check the law in your own state. The shops your talking about sell R rated crap.
I can get all the JM productions stuff in these shops etc and it says they are X rated? They don't appear to be cut versions... I'm in Victoria.

Are they expensive Smartt?
Not at all. Brazil being THE biggest DVD market in South America (and the second biggest in America), there´s lots of DVD pressing plants all over the country, thus reducing the costs.
