I live in Putnam county about 1 1/2hr or so on the train north of the city. So I don't get to go on these shopping trips as often as I would like. Usually I go when I am visiting a college friend who lives near shea stadium so that I can do two things at once( that friggin commute is too expensive).

As far as chinatown, mostly I go for mainstream asian movies which sell for between $5.oo and 15.oo on DVD. There is usually a section in the back of these Canal street stores that have Asian porn from Japan mostly. The prices in the store I go to are between 9.00 and 12.00 but they have deals where if you buy 3 it's 27.oo or something like that. The one store on bowery and canal has a deal on mainstream HK DVDS of 3 for 15.oo, you can't go wrong with a 5.oo DVD. The DVDs are mostly all region playable and the quality is good, at least the ones I have seen. Last time I went to NYC I went to both Chinatown and 8th ave. I purchased a couple Jap porn DVDs in chinatown and then subwayed to 8th because I wanted to check their displays of asian porn- big mistake, although I found a few I liked I wish I would have bought more in chinatown. Oh well there is always next time, maybe the next Mets game I go to with my pal.
