ivor, i'm not sure if any purely-social thing like a message board stays a meritocracy for long. right or wrong, life kinda IS a popularity contest-i won't argue either way but going back to the capricious bannings of brandon it may be a bit pollyanna-ish to believe xpt's personality-blind.
