I grew up in the end of that period, when Waldo von Erich's kids were more popular than he was, and Bruno Sammartino was doing the Shea Stadium roadshow with Zbyszko. What a great Polish name.



Never cared for his in ring personality but he WAS one of the all-time greats. Real name is Lawrence Whistler. That was a helluva time in wrestling. Those guys were all giants too bad they're dropping like flies.
The Missing Link lives in my neighbourhood up here and its a shame to seem him falling apart from years in the ring. That green face paint used to fuck me up when I was a kid.
