Rodney is in a rut right now, shooting lots of stuff but not really hitting the mark on anything. But over the last decade he's been one of the more original directors and deserves credit for a number of new things. He definitely pioneered the POV genre, and I think was the first to do oral series, and I think strongly influenced Tom Byron in his early Gonzo days. When Rodney worked with Wolf Savage the skits they did were hilarious.

I think Mason got started in porn working for Rodney: You might ask her sometime and she what she says about him.

As for the hairy girls, fat girls, etc: Rodney will shoot just about anything. Some guys like Max or Ed Powers get in a rut and do just one thing, but Rodney shoots anything. Also, Rodney is into the "real girl" thing: he doesn't believe Real Girls look like supermodels and he doesn't shoot that.

I have no idea why he's doing a tranny series. My guess is that he noticed others were doing it and he hadn't, and decided to try it just for variety, and that he's kept it up because it sold. I think that's how the fat girl series started - he did one on a lark, it sold, and so he does more.

I corresponded via e-mail a fair amount a few years ago and my impression is that he's a good guy if a little inconsistent sometimes. I think he prefers to do his own thing which is why he's not with a larger company, or doing things that require larger crews (I bet he still shoots almost everything with no more than 3, sometimes 4, people in the room, including cast and crew).
