I don't remember any plague of East German terrorists attacks in the general time frame around when the first one came out however I do remember a bunch of stuff sponsored by Libya, Syria, and the other usual suspects (Achille Lauro, plane blowing up over Lockheede, Scotland, various plane hijackings and hostage situations at Beirut airport, etc. etc. etc.)
