jeter's got what? six errors? he'll improve or at least even out, i think he's lost a step and in the PROCESS of realizing he's lost that step and a bit of range.
your everyday lineup's probably better than anyone in baseball's, your pitching could be as bad as anyone in baseball's for the next month. or, as you said, it could be amazing and you could find THREE amazing young talents that'll be the mainstay of your rotation for half a decade. or i'll look out my window and see a leprechaun riding a mermaid.

Jeter had average range to begin with. For years he's cheated two steps to get to more balls.
The fact that Arod moved over for him is a joke. I'm positive thats where the mental block started. He looks to HIS position, of which he could be amoung the best fielders of all time and sees captain limited range. If they were doing whats best for the team they would move Arod to short and Jeter to third. Maybe Arod will stay then.
The Yankees could have Clemens by next month with Wang and Petite behind him. Then take your pick from Pavano, Mussina, Igawa or the three studs on the farm. Of course Clemens is no sure thing.
One thing we can agree on is this is not championship material.

i like the ny-boston thing, but arod's just a fucking freak, maybe a once-in-a-generation one. i enjoy watching the guy do freakish things and succeed as long as it's not at the sox's expense. as a disclaimer, i like bonds too.

They just put Clemens on the PA system at the Stadium and he announced he is a Yankee again. Would have been nice if they were not on a commerical break at the time. Lord knows how much he's getting paid to bail out that sinking ship.
Wang, Clemens, Petite, Mussina, Hughes. Nice.

I don't Clemens had that deal with the Astros. He only skipped trips if he was not pitching. His prorated salary is $27M. Now if we can get a bullpen this may be a good season. Dump farnsworth, Pavano and some of the other dead weight and let the kids pitch.

Say what you want about Steinbrenner and the "Evil Empire," they're not afraid to cough up the cash to get what they want. I also heard that Clemens' agent was at Fenway when the Yanks started talking serious money, so I imagine that Steinbrenner gets some satisfaction out of skating the Sox/Clemens deal (even though the Sox wouldn't put up nearly that much cash).

Roger hasn't been able to go a full season in a few years, hence the business of showing up late in hopes of having something left in the post-season. It's been a question of how long before his effective season length is less than one game ... and it may be this year.
He's an unusual case - he's still an elite pitcher with all of the mental and pitching skills intact ... when the rest of his body holds up. But he's NOT a young man, and his pitching style doesn't hold up well with age.

I just found out the Yankees new stud picher Joba Chamerlain is an injun. He goes behind the mound and points at the sky before every inning. I figured he was pointing to the sun god, but he did it in a dome. Do the injusns have a dome god? Either way, he had 135K's in 85 innings in the minors and has struck out 8 in 5 innings in the bigs. Big ups to cahman for holding on to him. i'll get a chance to check him out in person on Thursday.

Scooter got his 100th hit against the Indians.Scooter was the oldest living member of the Hall of Fame. Prior to him it was Al Lopez of the Indians. the last old timers day while Rizzuto was alive, the Yankees hosted the Indians. In the 50's the Yankees routinely beat out the Indians for first place. Rizzuto was voted in by the veterans committee, led by bob Feller of the Indians. Rizzuto ended up taking the broadcasting job of joe Garagiola, who moved on to announcing for the Indians. Oh, and who did the Yankees sweep last weekend?
So its really a passing of the batton from the Yankee for life, to the next generation. They will probably wear Scooters number the rest of the season and dedicate this years championship to his memory. Don't be surprised if it ends with Joba the injun on the mound.
