I just found out the Yankees new stud picher Joba Chamerlain is an injun. He goes behind the mound and points at the sky before every inning. I figured he was pointing to the sun god, but he did it in a dome. Do the injusns have a dome god? Either way, he had 135K's in 85 innings in the minors and has struck out 8 in 5 innings in the bigs. Big ups to cahman for holding on to him. i'll get a chance to check him out in person on Thursday.

Perhaps theres a Joba-Phil connection. His signiture play was a squeeze on a pitch behind his head against the Indians. Scooter got his 100th hit against the Indians.Scooter was the oldest living member of the Hall of Fame. Prior to him it was Al Lopez of the Indians. the last old timers day while Rizzuto was alive, the Yankees hosted the Indians. In the 50's the Yankees routinely beat out the Indians for first place. Rizzuto was voted in by the veterans committee, led by bob Feller of the Indians. Rizzuto ended up taking the broadcasting job of joe Garagiola, who moved on to announcing for the Indians. Oh, and who did the Yankees sweep last weekend?

So its really a passing of the batton from the Yankee for life, to the next generation. They will probably wear Scooters number the rest of the season and dedicate this years championship to his memory. Don't be surprised if it ends with Joba the injun on the mound.
