I was rushing here to make a "Warriors" reference, but obviously am way too late.
The various gangs were cast from Broadway dancers, which explains why the fight scenes have such detailed choreography but minimal actual violence.
Even still, the "Baseball Furies" and the roller-skater dudes have a lot of explaining to do. They remind me of that Chris-Farley/Adam Sandler era SNL skit with the piss-poor street gang:
"OK, how did we practice it? How were we going to attack him?"
"All at once!"
"Right. And what did we end up doing."
