LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Maybe Eddie Griffin should leave the driving to his chauffeur. The comedian destroyed a rare million-dollar Enzo Ferrari on Monday when he crashed it into a barricade while promoting a movie. He was unhurt in the low-speed incident, at Irwindale Speedway, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Los Angeles.

"The brother's good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can't drive," Griffin told reporters.

He was practicing for a celebrity charity racing event tied to his upcoming film, "Redline."

The car, one of just 400 manufactured, belonged to the film's producer, Daniel Sadek. Sadek estimated that the car was worth $1.2 million, and seemed philosophical about the loss, saying he was just happy that Griffin was unharmed.

The real-estate investor has put up his own money for the $26 million picture, and allowed one of his two $200,000 Porsche Carreras to be destroyed for a scene in it.

There's nothing like an appreciation of money, or other people's personal belongings is there? So much better to just shrug it off, as though, "Hey, they shouldn't even have let me drive!" than to apologize profusely and look even remotely contrite.

I have a question...Why doesnt the car turn? The wheels don't appear to be locked up. You can hear the tires screeching but the wheels are still rotating so it should have steered at least a little. It also looks like the front wheels are turned so as to miss the wall but the car goes straight. You would think that thing would have at the very least would have come around a little but it didnt. He hit the wall dead straight on.
My view on this is that it is a publicity stunt for the movie. I have driven several exotics, never an Enzo, but still some fast shit that was made to handle.Speaking from experience, that car, at the speed he appeared to be going, brakes on so the front was loaded, huge sticky soft Pirelli's, quick ratio steering, antilock brakes and a few practice laps to get the tires a little scuffed and all...SHOULD have at least come around a little.
All the hype is that the car is totaled. This is also bullshit. Ferrari's have the engine in the back. The damage didnt even get past the front wheels. The damage to that car is mostly cosmetic. A new hood and some front fenders a little paint and it should be good. I dont think the hood even broke?

But eventhough the front wheels are turning,somewhat,they aren't turning as fast as the rear wheels.
He missed the apex and that car plowed like a tractor. I agree it wasnt a hard hit but you have to remember those cars are basically hand made. You aren't going to bring it to the body shop and have em slap on OEM parts. You're talking shipping that car back to Italy and having the best of the best piece it back together. As far as Insurance companies are concerned..thats a "total".

I don't really care what the truth is. The tragic end result is still the same.
