TOKYO - A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 rocked the Sea of Japan coastal area on Sunday, Japan’s public broadcaster NHK reported.
The quake was also felt in Tokyo. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. A tsunami warning was issued for the Ishikawa prefecture.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no Pacific-wide tsunami threat based on historical data, and no warning was issued for Alaska, Washington, Oregon or California.
