They (ADT) don't pay anything but there are some that suggest outside interests have done so in the past for higher ratings. I have no firsthand knowledge of such a practice where a company, performer, or director actually paid a reviewer from ADT cash for better ratings though your mileage may vary.

Apparently, she was "pissed off" by my reviving an old thread that Gene picked up for his website on a slow news day and the comments I made (which were pretty tame). Unfortunately, since "Drew" had a habit of using Steph's email account in the past and responding as though he was her, there is no way of telling which of them sent the email. The tone of her past emails was always substantially different than his and I never got the impression that she, unlike him, was emboldened by the whole internet dynamic (ie: that you could say anything you like without fear of getting a punch in the nose).

As far as the owners are concerned, while it wouldn't be fair to claim they were bi-polar as a certain male performer is, their actions over the years have certainly offered evidence in support of the charge. I don't mean that in a hateful way, just a passing observation from the peanut gallery.

My past dealings with both ranged from him sending me emails with his real name, trying to sic me on Adult DVD Empire for it's efforts to start up a competing website, to her apologizing for booting me off, in part because I had become their biggest cheerleader and a de facto representative. She was the one that repeatedly asked me to start reviewing for them years ago and I was content to do so but when things started to change, I wasn't about to sell my soul to "fit in" with the new program designed to make the website far more friendly to those in the industry.

Each Mod has a modicum of power over their fiefdom, some would say the kind of power they lack in real life, where they can project their beliefs onto others. Since they are not compensated for it, they are allowed a lot of latitude in their actions that are at least publicly supported, even when they go overboard. This gives each forum a slightly different "feel" to it and feeds an LCD mentality but that is nothing new or unique to them; and as you point out, some are far better than others.
