anyone considering letting an escort agency keep that kind of data for as long as they want and share it with whoever they want seems like they're not considering the probability being high the agency isn't going to last forever or protect your identity in a deal.
That's paranoid hyperbole - where's a real life example of that actually happening?
I have a real life example of exactly that thing happening.
About five years ago, a high end escort agency in Winnipeg (think way north of Chicago) got busted for tax evasion. As part of the court record, the accounting documents for the company were filed as exhibits - including credit card receipts.
The information contained the names of many prominent politicians, businesspeople, and sports personalities.
Noone could be criminally prosecuted (paying for sex is not illegal in Canada), but there were lineups in the courthouse to see the documents for gossiping purposes only. This is clearly not what many of the customers were expecting when they paid for some company ten years earlier, after getting assurance that the billing entity would be something benign (ie. Educational Equipment International ltd).
I know about this because the ensuing scandal made page 2 of the national newspaper.
Bottom line, paying by credit card (or giving personal info) is for retards.
That example doesn't support you. The credit card records would have been obtained from the credit card companies. Anyone who pays for whores on a credit card deserves what they get. The fact of the matter is that the prosecutors never go after the girls or the johns, they go after the agency for money laundering.
I recently represented a call girl from NY Confidentials when she appeared to testify before the grand jury. The prosecutor had no interest in the girls or the johns and gave all the witnesses immunity. They only had a hardon for Paul Bergrin who has running the place and mostly becuase he was a former federal prosecutor. The fact that he made a lot of enemies did not help. If kept quiet, the prosecutors have no interest in busting hookers, at least not in NYC.
