I don't think I've been to a strip club since the mid '90s. Back when I was cooking in this steak house. Well, there are "hookers" and there are "hookers".
I've never picked up a streetwalker or called someone from craigslist or one of those escort ads in the city paper.
However, I've been around strippers enough (was married to one for six years) to eventually start getting offers to "help them make some extra cash".

I have never paid for sex, and I never will. For two reasons: 1. I'm caught up in a "no sex without love" ideology. Most men laugh about me behind my back because of that. In Canada it's not illegal (there are some rules, however) widely available, reasonably inexpensive and generally safe (hey you want bareback anal, that's a different story).

i might have an entirely different view of things if i lived in amsterdam or whatnot. when weighed against the potential to end up in the back of a cruiser knowing you're going to be the proverbial disgraced white guy from the white side of town and that taint's never going away any laziness i might have about going through legal avenues to get laid seems to vanish. maybe i've had some kind of charmed life, but just finding chicks isn't such an onerous task.

I see what you're saying. Different people get off on different things, some people dig hookers, which is cool. In my own situation, I never personally saw the attraction or the need. To each their own as long as all parties consent, and no one's doing anything against their will. Although the situation for your friend seems like it's just something fun for him to do, or treat himself to, I seriously doubt that the majority of "Johns" have that same mindset. Then again, it's hard to say considering most people who pay for sex prefer to stay anonymous.

Never been with a prostitute, and more than likely never will.
I like strip clubs a little bit too much though, ask any of my friends. Never had any offers like Calvin mentioned, though, but then again I have horrible luck with women and probably would not take any up on the offer if they did.

Just because I've never paid for it, doesn't mean I look down on anyone who does. I know way too many hookers and working in the biz means *I have absolutely no right to judge anyone else's sexuality, whether they're straight, gay, bi or just like fingers in their ass.
Besides, I sometimes find myself looking at hott Asian hookers and thinking maybe I should buy myself something nice some time.
Nothing wrong with paying for sex. Like Biff says, we all eventually do, anyway. And the reality is you're probably statistically more likely to pick up an STD from a porn chick than you are an expensive call girl these days.
This is an interesting thread though, if you want to really get into what separates a performer from a hooker, particularly at the lower end of the gonzo ladder.

One of the reasons I see escorts is that it entitles me to a class of female that I would have no shot with in a million years. I'm a very attractive and successful guy, but the chances of my fucking a Penthouse pet like Amy Darren are as good as my replacing Joe Torre. I also like banging 19 year olds, which if you not in the industry is a tad harder to do.
