My position isn't that anyone should or shouldn't do porn. I think there are a few people that have their heads on straight enough to get into the industry, be responsible with their money, stay away from the shadier elements, and come away with minimal emotional damage, and more money than they ever would have made working the graveyard shift at Denny's (talk about a dignity extractor). However, those individuals are clearly in the minority, and many more performers are overcome by the vagaries of the industry. It's a hard business, and it ain't for everyone.
My point is simply this: I purchase porn, and thus am part of the economic impetus for women to enter the porn industry. Therefore it would be hypocritical of me to admonish women for choosing a career I'm indirectly subsidizing.
That was the main thrust of my email to Luke. Not that the girls get picked on more than the boys on XPT... but that they're more often the target of moral rebukes, and usually by people who have, or do pay to watch them perform.
