Did you read my post?!? I said it wasn't an excuse! My choices made me fat.
The point I initially was making was that I wasn't fat as a kid or teen. I didn't get fat until I LET the pain make me inactive. Even if I didn't use my knee, I could have done something else for exercise.
BTW, Since I gave up cake, cookies, pasta, etc., and concentrated ON EATING cheeseburgers & fried chicken, I have lost about 60 lbs and my "bad" cholesterol, which oddly was never too high, has GONE SIGNIFICANTLY DOWN.
Certainly weighing 60lbs less helps the knees when dealing with the 5 sets I descend in the morning.
I hope to be down to ~220 by December, which would be >100 since I started a bit more than a year ago, and >130 from my "maximum" I hit in 2003.
But, I DO have to start a regular exercise regimen. We'll see if I live up to it when I get back from Europe ...
And, whether or not I lose the weight, the knee likely "has to go". I'm just too afraid of the replacement surgery since I have had advice from some MDs that I'm too young for it.
